Mary   Yay! for asserting yourself with the surgeon.  Amazing how cocky some of them can be - good that you are getting another opinion.  And hoping that it's just a stitch from the diep, that would be an easier recovery.

Gosh - it's so darn hot here - ughh.  Can't even think about getting out for C25K - even the dog doesn't want to get out for a walk.   This afternoon I did 20 minutes of jumpboard and had the fan blowing the whole time.  Thank goodness for inside cardio!

Preparing for vacation - DS leaves for a 3 week backpack trip through Switzerland and France, should be a fabulous trip for him.  DD and I head for the States on Saturday.   Lots of upcoming doctors' appointments, oh well.  Looking forward to seeing my family.

Hope it's cooler where you are!    ~ Hugs  ~

14 mile mountain bike yesterday and made it almost 40 miles on the road bike today!  Whoo Hoo!

MissSwim - Your dedication is impressive! I need to get back to yoga. In general and for my swimming!  OMG, my stroke has to look horrible, it certain feels horrible and I am painfully slow in the water Cry  I am hesistant because I have recon coming up at the end of July and I figure what I gain I will most likely lose again after surgery...that bums me out.  If my insurance will cover it, I am going to head in for PT after surgery to get my ROM back!

Wonderland - great pics, looking good!

Managed to get my two mile run in this morning at 6:30am, just before the thermometer hit 80 degrees. Yikes!!

Badger sure picked a hot time to visit DC - a high of 100 is predicted for today.  We're going to the Nats-Rays baseball game tonight - in our Sculpted Sister shirts, of course.  Cool  We'll definitely take a picture!

It was a bit hot here too and I only made it 25 minutes running. Walked/ran 4k. I need one of those handheld battery-operated fans. The gym is not airconditioned.

Joy, pm me should your DS need anything here. Have a good trip home!

    Have fun, our Capitol girls!

Mary, I have encountered arrogance with drs. also. I don't know what goes through their heads.

    Can't wait to see pics.

Really hot in Philly today.  I am back into the swing of things now.  Starting to work with a physical therapist, which will set me more at ease.  My efforts to get back to my original fitness level (weight training and hard pushing bike rides) were triggering all sorts of weird pains and sensations in my affected arm.  Very low risk of lymphedema for me, but I thought I should play it safe.  It seems that there is still a lot of healing needed following rads - which I finished last November.  By doing lots of stretching exercises and sticking to my stationary bike, I won't be triggering the pain.  Anyway, I now have a bunch of stretching to do until next week, and then she (the PT) will ease me back into the weight training in a safe manner.

Hello everyone!! I had a great time in NC but am glad to be back in the refreshing 72 degree temperatures of North Dakota....come on up Smile!!

We had a lovely time at the ocean; if I had a beach house I would have the nicest legs in the world (well....maybe not) but I walked and walked and walked along the shore morning, noon and night, if only we hadn't ordered crab dip at every meal and rum drinks, it would have been an extremely healthy vacation Wink.

Had an awesome dinner with cfdr and Wonderland.  I find it profoundly moving that out of such a horrible experience, I have had the opportunity to get to know some of the most fabulous ladies ever (ie you all!). A true sisterhood.

Got up early the last couple days and walked my niece's very sweet dog and did some 'touring walking' Monday and 'airport walking' today. Tomorrow I will have to tone.

Mary, I did have hernia surgery a year ago April. Sounds like that doctor was a jerk and I'm glad you are talking to someone else (my surgeon was great about answering questions and did a great job...even though he looked to be about 12 years old!). If it turns out to be a hernia, or you want hernia information, let me know and I can PM you. I was pretty miserable and wanted surgery ASAP. It wouldn't have made it worse to walk or run but I felt too uncomfortable to do much of anything but the stationery bike until I got it taken care of.

Ronna, good for you and the yoga!

Looking forward to pictures of the baseball fans!

Another scorcher today in Budapest.  We had a big thunderstorm last night, did little to cool things down though, now it's just muggy. Tongue out  ruth - so jealous of your cool temps!!  Watch out, you may have some of us at your doorstep for a visit!

Phillybird   It's a good plan to ease into weight training, sounds like you have a good PT.  I had the same types of symptoms that you describe as I started working upper body out again.  With 4 nodes removed I also thought I was at little risk but realized otherwise as workouts continued.  Manual lymphatic drainage has been very helpful for me to deal with mild symptoms.   Good luck with your progess.

heidi   Thanks - we have little communication with DS on his trip, hoping that all goes well!

Hope that the Nats won last night??   Whoa - 100 degrees?

    Cool hugs ~

Deb (Badger) and I had a fabulous time at Nats Park.  It was like hanging out with a fun cousin you haven't seen for a while - I felt like I'd known her forever.  It was a long game - almost 3 and a half hours, yet the time flew by cuz we were having so much fun.  And it was HOT - but between cold water and cold beer, we managed! Cool For those of you who haven't had a chance to meet Deb yet, she's a hoot - a lot of fun and a great person.  And the Nats even won, so all in all a great night!

Loving Badger (Deb) and Natsfan pic. And the shirts!!

Too hot to do anything here. The minute I step outside in this insane heat I am drenched.

As to my new adventure with Hot Yoga, I doubt I will continue after 30 days are up. However, I will get a DVD for home and it is offered at my gym.

Again, too hot to do anything. My excuse.....

    Hugs

Got out this AM for an 80 min mountain bike ride with a couple friends.  They are so nice to wait for me as I huff and puff up the hills and then need several minutes to recover to normal breathing - - oh the joys of chemotherapy (the darn steroids)!!  Already making plans to get out post treatment #7, trying to think positive and will away the side effects!

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Did 10 minutes on the treadmill this AM before running out to a meeting, and the rest of the 1/2 hour when I got home...followed by a 20 minute yoga workout and my new PT exercises for my shoulder....3 exercises, 3 sets of 20 for each.

Mary and Badger: Love the picture! So glad you were able to meet. The shirts look great!

TriChick: Way to go with your bike ride!

cfdr: Sounds like maybe (hopefully) your anemia is getting better.

Dh and I went to the park to walk/run this evening. A storm had blown through earlier and temperatures lowered. What a relief!

Edited to Add: Glad you made it home safely, Ruth. It was wonderful dining with you and cfdr

hi ladies, I'm back home from DC trip and had a GREAT time.  Loved meeting Mary (and her DH).  Yes Ruth, we are hot chicks but in the literal sense.  It was hot and we were sweating.  Mary planned ahead and froze some bottles of water so we had ice-cold water (and a cold bottle to roll along the back of my neck).  She also brought hand towels to drench with water to wet our face & arms.  That helped a lot, we could catch a bit of breeze and cool down some.  A Hebrew National hot dog with mustard & relish, a cold draft beer, and the Nats won, yay!  Now I'm a Nats fan too.  Got to do the Nats walk one way, back to the car, as I took the Metro there but M&M drove me back to the hotel.  Thanks a million, Mary, so glad it worked out, I had a blast!

22.25 miles walked over 4 days Tues-Fri so just over the 2,500 mile mark.  Now I'll go to 3,000.

    ((hugs)) to all

hi ladies, I got out for a lovely 4.25 mile walk in the blessed cool of a 60-degree morning.

Took me 1.25 hours so not my fastest time but not my slowest either. Happy Saturday!

Walked to farmers' market and got veggies and did some cooking.  Warmed up on my stationary bike and did all my stretching and other exercises as per the PT.  Going to the gym later for 20 min of butt-punishing treadmill and 30 min on the elliptical.  But first, I am going back out to walk around the city and get a pedicure.

30 minutes pilates, then walked around for 30 minutes looking for my cat (I had the carpets cleaned yesterday and she got scared by the noise etc and zoomed out the door...haven't seen her since, which is very unlike her Frown), then did 30 minutes of Arms/Abs/Buns of Steel.

Badger & Nats what a great picture, I'm so glad you got a chance to meet up. Ruth I sure hope your kitty comes home soon.

Well ladies today I did my first ever "Mud Run" at Irvine Lake, now I'm not a runner and I told everyone I'd just walk it, well dang it I came in 4th in my age group so I guess I walk really fast, some of the pits were so steep I had to slide down into them on my butt and I even enjoyed crawling on my hands and knees through a big mud tunnel and at one stage I was helping a lady who had fallen in the mud and she pulled me down and my shoe came off as it was so gloppy but I had a great day and it was an awesome workout!!!

LOL Cheryl, what a fun day - I can just picture it!

Ruth, hope your cat comes home soon.

This afternoon, I walked to the market, approx 1.75 miles RT.  Tried to restrain myself but ended up carrying home at least 10 pounds of gorgeous organic fruits and veggies.  It was in the 80's so 20 degrees hotter than this morning but overcast so no sun beating down.  That made it bearable.  Sure hope we get some rain tonight.

Not sure how I did it, and I may have overdone it...but I rode 41.5 miles with 1700+ feet elevation gain yesterday!  I am so grateful and feel so fortunate that my SE's seem to wear off by my 2nd weekend and I can feel somewhat normal!  I even got to go out to dinner last night with friends!!  I am going to keep pressing on until treatment #7 (of 8 only 2 more!) Tuesday morning!

Headed to the coast to run with some friends!  Have a wonderful day everyone, stay hydrated!
