oooh I so want a girl's weekend! Diane- so glad your puppy is all right! I knew a woman who had a puppy that ate a pair of her panty hose!!?? Yes they did have to do surgery but then he was alright. Now after the first taste you would keep eating? Bleck!
Claire- I hope things improve - that isn't right at all. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else.
kate- so when do you hear back from 60 min! I also agree with MBJ- you just can't take any old job you are far too special for that!
0 -
I agree with all of you - we need a mini get-together! Think I'll buy a lotto ticket for Saturday night. If I hit it, then we can go anywhere we want - who else would I share with other than my BC sisters!
You all can come down here - I have a 4bed/4bath house on 8 acres 6 minutes from town and 10 minutes from the beaches....or I could fly to Phoenix. Was in Tuscon years go, and Kate, I agree with you, I thought I was in an oven turned on high - hot and dry!
Bosses can sure be pain's in our as... That's why since having bc I haven't even thought of going to look for work. I just don't want to be hassled.

Stanzie- 60 Minutes said if I don't hear anything back within 4-5 weeks that means they've decided not to run with the story. So keep your fingers crossed!
justagirl- Sorry if you already said, but where are you in Australia? That is definitely one country I would love to visit!

Kate,
I am in Doonan, Queensland, which is in an area referred to as the 'Sunshine Coast". We are 10 minutes inland from Noosa (which is a very popular upmarket beach community) and 1 1/2 hours from Brisbane, which is where the airport is.
Our area is rural, rolling mountains, very green, even in draught times. We have 8 acres with a creek, huge dam, ducks, horses, a pony, a fat ginger cat and a lazy border collie (my girl). Due to my diligence with planting, we have flocks of birds year round, cockatoos, lorikeets, king parrots and cockatoos plus a ton of others that I don't know the name for. I can hand feed my pet possums and we have kangaroos hopping through the gardens right next to the house. It drives my dog insane. A while ago my dog opened up a screen door and let one of the ponies into the house. I found them in the kitchen with the pony happily munching on dry dog food.
Like you, we have some animals we are not as fond of, like snakes and spiders and even some ants and flies bite!
You, your DH and DS are welcome here anytime. Guess you still have benefits with the airlines?
My son is 17 so yours would have company.

Debbiel- Wow! It sounds like absolute heaven! Nothing like I pictured at all with it being so green and the creek and all the wonderful birds! What a great place to raise kids! Unfortunately, we don't have my DH's flight benefits anymore. Australia is on his bucket list, though. We keep telling our DS he needs to be a pilot so we can get our benefits back! It's fun to dream, though, and my soon to be 15 year old would get along great with yours I'm sure. BTW, I loved your "dog and pony" story! Hilarious! Hope you got a picture of that!

Debbie!! That is so cute...love the pony eating dog food like he belonged in the kitchen LOL
Stanzie...Pantyhose...quite a feat! I dont know how one (even a dog) eats a pair of pantyhose?? Too funny. One time my friend left her dog with someone for a weekend and when she returned she was walking her puppy in the park...all the sudden as he was making a number two he looked at her like HEEEELLLLPPP ..she looked and saw something black coming out of his butt...so like a good mother..she reached to see what it was and started pulling...it was her friends THONG that the dog apparently took out of her hamper..so my poor friend is standing there holding her friends thong...in the middle of the dog park...OOOOOHHHH that story gets me going every time I tell it. If you knew the players its even funnier.
I think we should do a get together. After September I have absolutely nothing to due until January. I get so bored I'd love a trip.
Who's in?? I'd do Arizona. I was there in March one time and it was a nice break. I would love one last sunny warm trip before the snow comes to the East.
Diane
BTW Anyone can come to Baltimore anytime!!!! I always have plenty of wine and chocolate!

oh my!! the dog poo stories are amazing..they will eat anything; and love underwear.....i have to get them from all their little nooks and crannies, but ill get a pic! never thought to take one then. wasn't on the boards. things would've been much better, if i had been (((((((sigh)))))))3jays

Debbie- My husband said, "How soon can we come?". LOL!

Debbie--I have a 15 year old that love to come play on your rolling acres!! No wait, he has a mom that would love to too!!! wouldn't that be great if we could all come for a big camp out in Australia?? Guess I better go buy that lottery ticket!! Where's Oprah when you need her!!
Dog stories had me LMAO. Seriously, pantyhose and a thong??!!?!? The visual of pulling that thong. . . OH MY!!!! Thanks for making me laugh Diane, good way to start the day.
And Diane did you say ROADTRIP??? I just need time to request off--that is if I'm still working there in the fall. . . . : )
Speaking of work--I have a glorious day off!! My DH and I have the day off together--imagine that!! My son's first football game of the season is tonight--he plays clarinet in the band. Funny more band parents come to the games than the football players. Go figure!

Claire, your spirits seem a little up since yesterday - must be you and DH having a whole day off together.
Yes, if I ever hit on a lotto ticket, I'll buy the airline tickets and all of you can come on over. I probably will never win, but it's a nice dream.
Kate, tell hubby you can come soon as I recover from this next surgery. I'm off to see the PS on Monday and will then probably get a date. It's just to move one implant over to head it off from my armpit and the other is drooping after the LD flap atrophied. I should heal fast. So, any time mid-October on. We can go to the beach. The boys can go surfing. Our national parks run along the ocean so the walks are spectacular. We have a huge open market five minutes from our house every Saturday with hundreds of booths and yummy food to eat. Shopping, restaurants, etc. The first day of spring here was yesterday so we aren't using our pool yet.
Claire - come on over! We only have four bedrooms and bathrooms but could make it work. The boys would love to have my Max drive them around in his classy 1989 big 4 door Mercedes sedan. With it's dark blue exterior and the leather interior, I feel like a movie star when he drives me somewhere. Actually he was an angel to pick me up after I had the DMX in March, which made the 1 1/2 hour ride home as smooth as sitting in my living room. Or Max could take our truck 4-wheel driving on the beach and they could surf or boogie board.
Hey, I am ready for fun!
Diane's idea of a road trip would be just too much fun, stopping at whatever catches our interest and having a good gossip instead of punching keys on a computer....but where would I be without this website and all of you? Crying every day...........
After hearing Diane's stories about what her dog and others eat, I am so glad my girl doesn't touch anything unless I give her the okay to eat. I had to do that because we have poisonous toads and snakes here....but I can't get her to stop chasing the kangaroos and the horses. The pony we have now won't run if I am feeding her - she just looks at the dog with a look of total distain and goes back to munching her carrot. She's a rescue pony so was really nervous when she first came here but now she is getting her confidence back.

Debbie, I think it was you who said "ECG girl" - what does that mean?
As for dogs eating things!! Oy!! My DD's large, large dog (one of two) was getting sicker and sicker. They had just lost a Noodle the year before to stomach cancer so they were quite upset. This new dog was so lethargic and wouldn't eat anything!! After a VERY expensive visit to the vet, it was discovered that the dog had eaten a BEACH TOWEL!!! Here we all were, glued to our phones to get the diagnosis, ready to circle the wagons for another sad death and the stupid dog ate a towel?? I asked her DH if he wanted me to make a quilt out of that $1,000 piece of fabric! hehehehe

Wow, so much going on with everyone--I've spent the last half hour catching up. Having a hard week. My revision surgery is this coming Tues. sept 6. Another five hour surgery to swap out the TEs for a better size and style, fix the alloderm that is pulling so tight and rotate my nipples higher on my breasts. Since I had a nsbmx this new PS wants to better position them. I can't believe five hours is outpatient surgery. We were given the injection of blood thinners to give myself when we get home. I have to do it now every day, but I guess the hospital requires the orders because they don't want me to go home and form a blood clot. Been there done that!
I can't describe the pain I am now feeling every day. It's been 8 weeks since BMX but the TEs since they have not bee inflated anymore since surgery (350ccs), are "crumpling" down behind my nipples and look like big bulges. They shape shift depending on my position. I can't wait to get them out even though I know it is back to a few weeks of pain.
Trying to meditate but find I want to stay busy so I don't think or feel.
I love the bead idea. I bought my DH some crystal candle votives to mark this time since he has been such a light, but I love the idea of having something of my own. I think retroactive beads are just fine!0 -
Oh Lindsey!!! Such a trial you a going through right now!!! And you have to trust the new surgeon as you have no choice....my heart goes out to you. I'll say it again - those of you who were brave enough to put yourselves back together with hours and months (years!) of surgeries at least should get a result that is worth the pain and down time!!! How frustrating, sweetie...
0 -
(((((Lindsey)))) Hoping you will be pain free soon with this revision-5 hours is a long time for outpatient surgery--plan on staying just in case and if they release you and you feel fine, then great! Hugs!
Debbie: Are you adopting???LOL! Sounds gorgeous!

barbe,
I truly don't rememember saying "ECG girl"? Can you refresh my memory as to what context I said it in? Wow, I thought my chemo brain was gone.
You are too funny - and too right about the cost of that beach towel quilt! That's why when I first got my dog as a 6 week old pup I knew I had to teach her to eat only on my command. We we outside and she came running up to me with a half chewed poisonous toad in her mouth. Rushed her to the vet and lots of $$$$ later, he said she was fine as the toad had been dead for at least an hour and the toxin died with it. That did it. She now rarely even picks up sticks to play with as I think she thinks they are snakes and we have 5 of the most posionous snakes in the world here.
Lindsey - Barbe is so right. We put our bodies through this . and zap our wallets and our mental health to try and regain some semblance of our breasts again and it's often seems just too difficult. I admire women who are brave enough to say 'no thank you' to breast reconstruction'. I guess for me I did it to try and forget I had bc, but instead it keeps on reminding me.
Sadly, it does take time for reconstruction. I hope you will feel better about all of this once your new TE's are in and you are back to getting fills and heading toward the permanent implants.
I know for me, now I dry off from a shower with my back to the big mirror (then I only see the 12" scar down my back from the LD flap) and fast put on a camisole. My implants are so small I don't even need a bra (good). I still feel ugly with one boob trying to migrate to my arm and the other dropped 1/2 way down and no nipples. Then I remember my GP saying I looked like a barbie doll and I don't feel so bad. When I'm dressed I really do forget about all of this until I bend over and the one implant slides and then I stand back up and it plops back - too weird.
Lindsey, as to your blood thinners. I think you said a while ago you had a history of a blood clotting problem. Well, I was surprised when I had my DMX that they injected me with blood thinners a couple of times a day during my 10 day stay in the hospital. Supposedly it's a new thing for when having a big surgery and the person isn't going to be too mobile for a while. They also put those pressure circulation pumps on my legs. I wasn't allowed out of bed for the first 3 days and then only to go to the bathroom for a few more. Then pumps came off.
I know in the US they seem to send people home really soon after surgery, so you end up being your own nurse. I can see sending someone home after a one hour surgery but 5?? It takes hours for the anesthesia to wear off? Won't your insurance cover a night in hospital? A friend in Los Angeles had bypass surgery last year and was home in 4 days, so I guess times are changing.
Lindsey - I'll be thinking of you on the 6th.

MBJ - come on over! I lived in Playa del Rey for years and thought that was lovely but this place wins hands down for me.
0 -
Sounds absolutley beautiful!!! How did you end up there so far on the other side of the planet? I here it's gorgeous!!
0 -
MBJ - we started in Playa del Rey, then my boyfriend now DH) retired at 44 and we moved to Kauai, where we stayed 12 years (same house). Then he got a bug up his A.. (actually I think it was male menopause) and wanted to move to New Zealand. Well, it was divorce or move, and I truly was happy there. We moved, had our son and came over to Australia during our 3rd winter in NZ for a month to escape the cold. Well, I fell in love with it here. I knew he wouldn't move back to Kauai (no, he would never say why not) so I told him he picked New Zealand and now I pick Australia and we were now going to go look and buy a house. WE did, and 6 months later moved here and that was 14 years ago.

Claire- Hope you had a great day off with your DH!
Debbie- I love the way you describe your home. It sounds like an incredible oasis (though I'm sure lots of work, too!) Better stop extending the invitation, though. We might just show up on your doorstep! We have enough frequent flier miles for 2 round trips anywhere in the world. We would just need to buy a ticket for our DS. It's tempting!
Lindsey- I'm sorry you're having to go through a revision. I had such a mix of emotions going through mine, mostly anger that it wasn't done right the first time. I'll be thinking about you on Tuesday and hoping it all goes well and that damn Boob Fairy gets this part right this time. (((hugs)))
Barbe- Loved the dog story especially the $1,000 quilt idea. LOL!
Well, tomorrow we are off to spend the weekend with some friends up at their cabin (more like a really nice house in the shape of an A frame) in northern Arizona. It is about 25* cooler up there and I am SO looking forward to that! I won't be back until Monday and not really sure what the internet status is up there. What am I going to do for 3 whole days without my girls and BCO? Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend! Be safe!

Here's today's inspiration song- John Mayer's War of My Life. I've had it stuck in my head all day. Love this song!

Debbie I feel so jealous...your hometown sounds amazing(minus the poisonous creatures)!! I wish I could afford a visit....someday. I also cant believe you got a 10 day stay!! I was home 24hrs after surgery. I could have and should have stayed an extra day..but it was Christmas eve..and my niece (who is the love of my life) was so upset I just wanted to go home and be with her and my sister. Yes I also remember those belly shots of heprin (is that it??blod thinner) I absolutely could not do that to myself. YEOW... Lindsey I will most definitely be thinking of you Tuesday . You poor thing to be heading into surgery so soon after your mx. I cant believe your TE has been sloshing around....ooohhh I ache just thinking about that...my implant on mx side is so tight its not going any where any time soon. I hope that everything goes well and your issues with TE and Alloderm get resolved. My revisions were about 3hrs each time..the last time I got the patch behind my ear to avoid nausea (which I wish I got al the other times) and I got a Valium injection before surgery (I dont even remember walking to the table) the great thing about Valium was that when I came out of it I was not the least bit groggy. In fact, when my friend came to pick me up she was surprised to see me walking myself out of the ladies room. I even was up for going to the pharmacy before home and stayed awake for quite a while once home. The anesthesiologist said that was the plus of Valium over ativan pre op...just a little fyi.
I had a very bad morning...here is a day in the life of Diane...9/2...I woke up to my client in Boston calling me tellling me they received a letter from the IRS levying my fees and that I owed $28K !!! I was like WHAAAAATTTTT??!??!?!?!?! I began to have a complete break down...i was crying so hard..i thought how could I owe that?? I never received a letter or call or nothing???!! I do not make enough money to ever owe $28k that is completely ridiculous plus my client in Boston owes me about that which holds me over for the months I am not working. I thought omg I am not gonna get paid I have zero money coming in the next 4 months I will lose my house...I was going nuts...oh and to make matters worst my internet was down..so she couldnt even email me the letter. We'll forget about the complete humiliation from my client that I had an IRS levy and I am a tax consultant...lets put that aside for a minute. So I haven't seen the letter ..its 930 in the morning...I am having a complete breakdown..so I call my very good friend Deb. I cry to her tell her what my client said and that I would be broke if I didnt get paid the rest of the year and she simply said...Di call them find out the exact amount and we will send them a certified check today...problem solved!! Can you believe that..so I called the IRS....UUUhhhh I owe $1161.42 in penalties cause they said my return was late last year. I was 1. so relieved it wasnt $28,000 and then 2. pissed that they would send such a letter to my client without properly notifying me AND why not just levy my bank account OR take it from the $15000 I paid in for 2011. I was so mad..I did try to play the C card that my finances were tight to try to abate the penalty but they werent biting. OK so I still had to get the IRS to send a "release of levy" letter to my client so I could get paid this month. So since my internet was down...I had to go to my dear sweet friend Debs house and use her computer to pay the amount online...then I had to print the receipt ...Then...here's the good part...fax it WHILE I was on the phone with the IRS until they received the receipt THEN I had to stay on the phone while they faxed the release to my client AND they got confirmation that it was received. After all that I was so mentally exhausted. I got done dealing with all this crap at 2pm today. OMG I just cant even tell you how stressful that was...I just hope not all my clients got that ...how F*&^%ing embarassing. The feds must be desperate for cash if they're shaking me down like that for a f*&^ing late filing penalty. I am still gonna fight it to get it back though cause I filed electronically and there is no way they did not receive my return until 4 days later...unless my admin messed up the transmission...
Anyhow, all is good now...lets see so this week...I am all caught up on parking fines...I got my tags renewed..all my work done and tax penalty assessments paid...I think my next trick is to win the lottery!!! The day did end well as my nieces field hockey team kicked some BUTT today winning their season opener!
Ok ..sorry for the rant but everyone is at the beach and I am alllllll alone this weekend...Thank goodness my internet is back!
Happy FRIDAY!!!
Diane
BTW Barb...that was me saying ECG for East Coast Girls...I may have had one too many Gs..I am off until January after next week!!! All visitors welcome!

Truly, any of you and your families are welcome to come and stay at our humble heap. Summer is good as we also have a pool and many beaches and national parks near. We are 1 1/2 hours by car from the Brisbane airport. If it's just one of you, I will come and get you and do the driving around the place. More than one, it would probably be better if you rent a car as where we live there is no public transport in the country though we are only 6 minutes from town.
Diane, Seems like your client got things really mixed up. I do think the IRS is hard-up for cash as I got a late notice for not paying $4 like in 1980 and with interest I owed them $22. Then the government underpaid my DH's social security by 2 cents so mailed him a check for it!
Have a good weekend.

Debbie: What a great story! I love it! I haven't shared yet but my DH and I just bid on a house in Louisville, Kentucky of all places. It's a cute 1 1/2 story 4 br 1 ba Cape Cod house on .27 acres of land. It's a long way away from Los Angeles but it's just too stressfull here and this will be a much slower pace plus we get to have all of the seasons!
0 -
MBJ: the house and location sounds wonderful. Is it .27 or 27 acres? What about los angeles? After living there I do understand what you are saying about the stress and pace. Seasonal changes are lovely here until I have to rake up the leaves - no, really it is nice. Have you thought of just moving up or down the coast? Is there work for both of you in Louisville? All I know about there is horse racing.

Thanks Barbe. I really do feel new PS will be terrific. Just need to get through Tuesday.
MBJ - good advice. I didnt plan to pack anything, but PS said if there were any complications he would admit me.. I will plan for that.
Debbie - I learned I had a blood clot disorder when I developed a 21inch clot in my right leg in '02. It went from my ankle to mid thigh. So now there is always a concern. I wish the insurance company was concerned enough to let me spend the night!
Thanks for hugs! I love road trips and Australia, but most of you must be much farther along than me. To have a seat belt across my chest hurts so I have a pillow stuffed in there. I just can't get excited to go anywhere right now and that is so unlike me. We love road trips, camping, etc. But I just want to stay in familiar surroundings right now. Hopefully this will pass as I heal and get to the exchange surgery in Nov.0 -
Diane, if that had happened to me, I would have crawled into a hole and died!!! You done good!
MBJ, glad you're getting east of the fault line!!! Good luck on the house, keep us posted!!!
0 -
Debbie: It's .27-just a little over a quarter acre. The inspection was done and the bid was accepted so now it's just a matter of waiting for minor repairs to be done and then we enter a 30-60 day escrow. We are moving out of California because of housing and living costs. Our mortgage, with insurance, taxes and warranty will be around $775 in Luisville! In California it would be $3000 +++! Even a tiny one room condo is over $300,000 to buy plus monthly dues. It's been crazy for the last 10 or so years. The only people I know who own houses either have solid jobs in the movie industry or they bought their homes before their value quadrupled. I don't even want to talk about how expensive property taxes are here! Also, no air quality. We just want a slower pace, to have half our property be a vegi garden and to have chickens for our eggs. There are lots of Amish there so we can get quality goods from them and since we plan to grow organically, we might even be able to do trades.
Luisville has the Ohio River running through it and lots of lakes and something like 245 parks plus miles and miles of bike paths. They also have a great arts and music community, so we are really looking forward to living there. Summers can be quite humid, but I suppose we will adjust. Everyone has central air and heat so it shouldn't be an issue.

MBJ sounds absolutely HEAVENLY!!!! What a GREAT move for you!! I'm excited for you. A move gives you a chance to re-invent yourself. Do you have pics? I love Cape-Cod style homes...
0 -
One more time...I am having terrible internet problems..UGH
MBJ the house you bid on sounds lovely! I have friends in San Diego and I am always amazed at how expensive it is to buy a house out there. I dont know how people afford it. I have a little over half an acre and I love it..I love the privacy. When I moved in there was an herb garden but so many critters eating at it I had to remove it. I wish I had the green thumb for a garden cause I have so much space but all I can seem to keep alive are the ivy and the weeds. How exciting though...when are you thinking you would move?? I love fall...I could never live somewhere without the change of seasons..Fall is absolutely my favorite. I also love snow..just not two feet of it at once. I hope you get it sounds amazing and like a nice change of pace from LA.
Hope everyone is well...I have been cleaning out my drawers and my twin sister is so excited to get all the bras that don't fit me anymore...I will confess..I am hanging on to a few I should give to her but they fit in a sexy only on for a few minutes kind of way and some just have special memories
I will be cheking in later....
Diane
