Hey again. I'm so proud of DS's gf. Not to be out done by his act of kindness, I just found out that on Saturday she is cutting 8 inches of her beautiful honey blonde hair that she has been growing forever and donating it to make wigs for breast cancer chemo ladies!!
She asked if I'd like to go with her. I'm tearing up now, I know I'm going to cry then. She is so beautiful and her hair has had me jealous even when I had hair!!! I can't believe she's doing this. Such an angel!! I'll post pics :-)0 -
Morning my lovely ladies.
Shari - yep go get NED and dance with him for a long time. In your pockets.
Chrisrenee: that's funny about NED - but I am sure your DH is OK with you having a new NED in your life.
Jo - woo hoo... you can bring the chocolate jujubes.
Shianne: that is wonderful of your DS's gf - so sweet. Puts faith back in human nature.
Scottie: It is Easter and you should avert your eyes from the chocolate that may be eaten.
Was a busy day yesterday.... didn't even have time to check in from work... got home and was exhausted. So I am 4 months out of rads and still get tired very easy. I am going to ask my MO today why my hips and tops of legs still ache - not sure if its just the recovery process or the tamox. Whatever it is, I am fed up with feeling 93 some days.
We have a most beautiful sunny warm weekend forecast - so looking forward to 4 days off.
Hello to everyone I missed.
Happy Thursday ladies xx

Hello, I am Laura Burgess and I am a third year fashion entrepreneurship student at the University of Central Lancashire (UK). For my Final major project my business concept is to create a range of feminine lingerie for women whom have had a mastectomy.
Avoir Espoir will create a range of lingerie which will be trend led altering shapes, colourways and prints depending on the season’s trends. The mission is to create lingerie which will make women feel confident and help merge the health and wellness market with luxury fashion.
I would really appreciate if you can fill out my questionnaire. Please be as honest as possible and constructive comments are welcomed. This will enable me to gain necessary research to create a product which satisfies the customer needs and wants.
The survey is in 3 parts, click the links below and it will take you immediately to the pages. Thank you for taking the time to fill out my questionnaire. All of your comments are valued and they will help me with finalising my collection.

Tazzy, the sore, stiff thighs and hips sound so familiar, and I had the same thanks to Taxotere, but it went away about 3 months after chemo ended. By that time rads were also done. Hopefully your MO can help. It sucks that you still have it so long after treatment ended. As far as fatigue, I am in bed every night between nine and ten, read maybe for half an hour, then sleep. Before bc I would never go to bed before eleven thirty or twelve. Seems this is the new reality. Maybe over time it will get better, who knows?
Shari, you are not posting, so your surgery is probably over by now, and you are resting comfortably. BIG HUGS!

Liefie: I expected that on taxotere...last treatment was June - so I'm thinking could be the tamoxifen...... then again it could be age too mixture of both. Frustrating when I used be an energizer bunny and now not so much. Oh! well onwards and upwards.
Shari: thinking of you.
OK off to get ready and get out. Chat later ladies.

Good morning ladies! Wow, I'm going to have to visit here more often to keep up with everyone's posts!
Shianne I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Since they don't use Silvadene, do they use anything like Elasto-Gel? It's also used for burns. It's a soft flexible gel pad you can refrigerate, then put on your rad areas. It also has anti-microbial properties. Hand in there! Sending healing vibes!
I want to thank everyone for their kind words and advice! I'm so glad I found this thread!
Things are looking up- the sun's out today (Thank God!) and this weekend it's supposed to hit 50!
((Hugs to all)) xoxo Sheila0 -
Hi ladies
I will post more later while I am having my Herceptin infusion.
Shari - continuing with you in your pockets in spite of the melted chocolate, the martinis make up for it
Tazzy - continuing in your pockets also. Hoping to hear you are still dancing with NED
I would like to ask a favor or everyone who has a Facebook account. Below is a picture of my daughter-in-law Leah (I hope - I have never posted pictures on Breastcancer.org before) with our three grandkids. Leah is trying to win a contest for a makeup and photography session with this photographer as well as $500 worth of free makeup. She deserves it and I would love if you would consider voting for her at this link -

As you can see, Lilly has flourished and her brother's think the world of her.
Thanks to all who are able to help.

Hi all - I just got this from Shari's Mother regarding her surgery today:
Dr. Keleher came out and said her surgery went well. Very little blood lost and all vitals were good. Also said nodes came out very easily which is a good sign and she was able to save all of her nerves there. All and all so far so good. Plastic surgeon still working on left side but Dr. Keleher said right side looks good.
Dr. Sepulveda came out and said she did great and everything went well. She is in recovery and hopefully we will see her soon..
Thank you all for all your prayers and good thoughts.. They all helped. Next is the pathology report of the nodes. Hopefully they will be negative. Will find out next week.

Shari's Mom said she will probably go home tomorrow. Incredible, did you all go home that quickly? Of course my lumpectomy was done in a Surgery Center and left n a couple of hours. The miracle of medicine!

I went home in a few hours as well.

Believe thank you for the update on Shari. After my BMX I was in overnight and went home the next morning.

Websister.....managed to get on and vote.....she's gorgeous!!!!!

We sister, I will vote for sure!!!!
Believe thank you for the update!!! Keeping Shari in my thoughts and prayers. I was kept 3 days but I had diep recon.0 -
Believe, thanks for the update on Shari. So glad everything went well so far, now praying for negative nodes. I stayed for two nights after UMX, because 5 weeks earlier I almost lost my life after the hysterectomy (at another hospital) when I started bleeding internally, and lost half the blood in my body before anybody noticed. So they were taking no chances this time.
I am experiencing a severe bout of 'empty nest' syndrome today, because no kids will be coming home for Easter. Just miss them so much, and wish they were here.

Thanks everyone. I think you have to agree to the app when it first opens but you can set it to 'only me' and skip sharing it with friends.
The link did do something weird so I'll try adding it again here -

Believe - thanks so much for the update. I was home the next day also. I am so glad that Shari will be at her Mom and Dad's place for recovery, she will definitely need the help. Praying for negative nodes
Liefie - sending hugs0 -
Thanks Believe for the update. Fingers crossed for quick recovery.
Did she have a lumpectomy or mastectomy? I was out of the hospital about three hours after the surgery. We had to stay in a hotel near the hospital as I was not allowed to travel the almost two hour trip home. Even the next day the little bumps in the road caused pain.

Believe: thanks so much for the update on Shari - poor kid. Breaks my heart.
I heard on the radio this morning before I went out that bc amongst younger women (20/30) is actually on the rise... and boy did it piss me off and make me feel so sad.
Yes, I am still dancing with NED - woo hoo !!
But have been on a debbie downer most of the day... first that news about young women then whilst I was sitting waiting for my 'shot' in the chemo room I overheard a conversation with a doc and an older gentleman. The doc told him that yes, the chemo had shrunk his tumour by half... but they do not believe it will shrink anymore and that he needs chemo for the rest of his days. Then I went in and said hi to the chemo nurses and was upset by the busyness of the place and how sick people looked... did I look that sick, was it always that busy? Yes, my darling DH told me when I phoned him.
My MO told me that my achy hips and thighs and pinching feeling in my chest could be part of my new 'normal' - it may go it may not. But I have to look to the good and all my scans came back clear, except for some degeneration in my spine and hip bones - likely due to age - fuck thanks. So I am going to go pour myself a large glass of wine and have a pity party... but I dont want a pity party... I want fucking normal and know that is unlikely - pissed off.
Sorry for the rant. I'll be back to 'normal' tomorrow I am sure.
Love you all and am so grateful you're here and you get this - but I'm sorry you get this... cos fuck, means you've been through it/going through it as well.

websister, my vote is in. Is this one you can vote daily?
Hoping Shari is having a quick and uneventful recovery. I too was let out the next day after BMX but i would rather do that than stay in the hospital with all the nasty bugs like MRSA lurking everywhere.0 -
websister.... beautiful indeed - added my vote.

Websister - I voted too.
I haven't heard anymore about Shari. If she goes home tomorrow, she will probably be signing on. Too bad she had to wait another week for results. Yes, she's also too young to be here.
Tazzy, I have some bone loss too. That's why my Doctor suggested adding weights to my ankles when I use the treadmill. Seems they do a bone scan yearly.
Still have company, sorry I didn't mention everyone but hugs too everyone!0 -
Hi ladies,
Been following just quiet lately. So glad Shari is done with her surgery. Like Tazzy said it breaks your heart to meet someone so young here so scared. Onward and upward Shari baby!
Tazzy - I'm glad you mentioned the hip thing. Last year during taxotere I had terrible knee and thigh pain. Then it subsided. Now my hips are killing me and both my shoulders! I wonder if its the way I'm sleeping but the shoulder thing bugs me. I just had CT scan done as follow up to one in January that came back fine but I still had that "oh shit did it go to my bones" thought. To quote Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes "I'm too old to be young and too young to be old!"
I'm sad this week. One of my best friends moved to West Virginia. Lots of road trips in my future! She is an RN and last year would be all nursey with me. God I miss her!
Ok happy time - my family and I went to Six Flags today and I was able to keep up for the whole 7 hours we were there! Haven't been able to do that since 2011! Last year I would sit a lot and when we went to Hershey I used a scooter. So next week we are going to Hershey and I'm leaving scooter home! Scottie cover your ears 🙉 cuz I'm gonna be eating lots of Hershey special dark!
Hope everyone has a very happy Easter/Passover/weekend!
Smooches!

Thank you for voting everyone, she did well today!
Latiger - yes, this is a contest where you can vote once every 24 hours, the contest ends April 1st.
Tazzy - rant away! Hope the wine and some weekend helps a little, I hope the weather permits lots of gardening activity for you and that your hips and legs don't protest too much. So good to hear you're still with NED.0 -
websister- i voted too!
karen- I love Hershey! Been there once i could gain 30lbs just by smelling it all.
Scottie- how are you doing dear.
Tazzy- yes it's pisses me off that BC is getting the younger women and it doesn't give a rats ass about it.
