Movie, are you going to Vancouver Island?? Jealous. Give Liefie a hug for me. As for plants under fir trees: lily of the valley, Solomon's Seal, Epimedium, Columbine, possibly Hellebores and Hostas but you'd have to water. Those trees are thirsty suckers. I'm assuming your talking about shade conditions?

Movie...I bet your plant problems are because your neighbours trees are taking up most of the water in that area. Jeannie....do you think Kinickinick (bearberry) would work for that spot? Would you like to have some snow to spread underneath those tree???? I've got some falling outside my windows as we speak!

snow?? Kinickinick is slow to establish and would be really slow in the shade, I think. Pretty, though. Tolmeia menziesii or piggyback plant is a nice native. I wonder if Forest Grass would work---Hakonechloa macra, so pretty. I have some in my woodland.

you guys are going all scientific on me.......the doodoo of the outdoor "living" area, as I told Jeannie when we met....I am hopeless!

The fir scenario is a sticky wicket........the trees are on south-southwest side of neighbors boundary......the afternoon sun is HOT HOT HOT there, so the usual suspects won't work....and I am sick of azaleas.....I would really like to hide the neighbor's yard debris trailer that he parks in the front, near the property line.....classy, I know. Would smaller evergreens work? Dwarf something-something.... Or vine maples? I have contemplated pounding a million or so copper nails in those damn trees.....a good windstorm could knock every one of them over, and with MY luck, it would be on MY house..... :\. Killing a tree is a hanging offense here in tree-huggerland! I love trees, but NOT 150' high giants right outside my door.....oh, and I get deer too....and coyotes....raccoons......possum......squirrels...feral cats..and lions and tigers and bears........

Okay, I have worked myself up.....better finish my cleaning, and head to bed!

    Love you ladies!

Snow in Calgary - oh my! Will take shoes with rubber soles . . . have hurt myself in the past slipping and falling on ice in Alberta, and not used to it any more. Will do my walking in the mall this weekend - lol.

    Good night, everybody!

    Happy birthday, Cherrie.

Jackie - why the switch from Armour to Synthroid? Last time I was on Synthroid they had to add cytomel - too much hair loss.

    Good Morning Everyone!!! Happy Friday.

BTW, did anyone else notice that they removed the emoticons from the text tools? I know I can do it from my computer, but hmmmmm. I think they made it easier to add images and links, though.

    Cherrie - Happy Birthday!

Cuetang - Happy Early Birthday! Librans are the best!

Nihahi - Thank you for starting this thread. So fantastic to meet everyone in DIEP-land, share their adventures, and then being able to continue with moving forward while staying in the BCO community.

I sent my photo & quote to the Moderators and tried to sum up in a few words what this site has meant to me. It really got me thinking, and I just feel so grateful for all the support and knowledge and genuine caring that lives on these boards. Where else can you go to get (or give) reassurance at 3 in the morning, or learn about 'tapping'. I told them that I've sat in front of my screen and cried my eyes out, and I've sat in front of my screen and laughed so hard I spit out my coffee. It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I just feel so friggn' thankful today. You ladies are amazing!

The only thing that wold make it better is if I could have tea in Jeannie's garden, and maybe 'borrow' Tanner.

    Cherrie, happy birthday to you!

Janet, once again you've summed up everything perfectly as usual. Yes, I also feel so very grateful for this thread, and the others, that we have all 'met' each other, and are all here to enjoy each other - priceless!

Have a wonderful weekend everybody, and a joyful Thanksgiving to the Canadians. Lalalala . . . I'm off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz, aka Nihahi - can't wait!

    mtpet, those are SO cute!

Jeannie, how big is your house? It may be cramped when we all move in. Your garden, and garden knowledge, are superb! I do not like gardening or worms at all.

    Cherrie, happy birthday!

I can tell this thread will be almost as hard to keep up with as the last one! Bailey goes to Vegas and I go to Michigan. Have a wonderful weekend ladies! ...Julie

cherrie.....happy birthday...hope its a day of "wonderful" for you.

You're too funny liefie....! It may look like Oz to you when you land....woke up to snow on the ground this morning. It will be so good to meet you and spend some time together....won't be nearly long enough!!! Hmmm.....you don't enjoy doing the Alberta Black Ice Dance???? It's our winter entertainment around here!!!

bailey....nothing in the news about a wild woman at a concert last night...still waiting to see what your adventures in LV may bring! Enjoy!!!!

excuse me Janet, but you are going to have to get in line for some "Tanner time". I want that puppy on my lap, and I don't share well with others! So you'll be in Cape Breton for the long weekend.....I bet it's gorgeous...yes...get yourself off the front porch and down the trails for sure!

marty....hope the dress redo goes well, if not, you could always tell people the alligators ate it! yep, they changed the icons last week. I liked my choice of smiley faces, but then, I'm slow to adapt to new technology!!!!

Thanksgiving weekend in Canada......and this year, my heart is overflowing with gratitude and thanks for many, many things....a big part of that is all of you. I cannot imagine what this past year would have been like without you. I'll dedicate a bite of turkey and stuffing to each of you!!!

    Have great days, everyone!

I wish you could all visit! I spent many hours on my lounge chair relaxing instead of gardening these last two years...with Tanner by my side, of course. He is not a gardening dog because he eats everything and gets very dirty. But his fur is so so soft! He is very cuddly and I would love to share him with you. He is a Pomeranian/Poodle mix. Today it is drippy and foggy so the garden isn't quite so inviting. It's the beginning of gray here, not a happy color.

Movie, I am on Synthroid, too, with no problems. I'll have to think on your gardening problem....hot sun, dry with some height. A vine maple would have fall color all year if you tried that, I think---stressed.

Janet, I share your feelings about bco and the ladies here! Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian sisters! Apparently today is the "Day of the Girl" so I celebrate all of my "girls" here as well as girls everywhere.

I had to show you all Snickers, my pomapoo!! She is overdue for a groom due to feral cat attack three weeks ago in my fenced yard. The kitten is my daughter's who found it in her tire well and named him "Shotgun". He just visits as I have two inside cats. I hope you enjoy. Have a great day and weekend, Kat!

Had a wonderful visit with liefie today...also spent some time with hubby (he is a real sweetheart) and I met one of their sons too. Liefie and I spent several hours chatting away about many different things, and it felt like we'd known each other for a long, long time already. fyi...she is so pretty!!!!! hmmmm......she WAS wearing a pink scarf, but she's such a sweetie, I'll let it go. Plus, pink is a good colour for her!

Cherrie...such wonderful, wonderful news. Enjoy all the family time!

Love all the doggie photos....could just hug them all!

tracy....please don't get sick....have some tasty, hot and spicy chinese....that'll kill those germs for sure!!!!

wow......I ended up with a full plate of stuff to do today, and I JUST sat down to read! I can tell this thread is going to fly along just like the DIEP one! Sheesh!

Cherrie, I hope you had a wonderful birthday today! Enjoy your family time, too! :)

Marty, my PCP says Armour is notoriously uneven in its effectiveness, and if the Synthroid works w/o too much hair loss, I am good with it....after 4/5 days on the synthroid, I suddenly felt like I finally have some energy back that has been sorely lacking for several years......keeping fingers crossed!

Nihahi and Liefie, I am so glad you got to spend time together........can't wait to make the connection with Liefie myself! Good thing Nihahi kept her cool over the pink....... :D

Janet.....our resident writer.....such a thoughtful post! Thank you!

And......Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian sisters! Hope you all get some turkey and stuffing!

Thank you all for posting pics of your furry friends.....I love looking at them! If I can figure out how to do it, I will try and post a pic of my two Labs.......(dogs - not men ... :D. )

    Love you all.....

Love all the doggy photos. I only have grand doggies in Virginia. My DH is NOT an animal lover and I am.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian friends!

My birthday (59) is today and having my son here and getting good news from MRI will be the best! The weather here has been beautiful. Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Jeannie, you said you live 30 miles north of Seattle. What city would that be? My son lives in Ballard. Can't wait to finally see his place at Thanksgiving. I have my waterproof shoes and jacket now. Hope we get a day or two of sun to see the mountains.

Happy Birthday, Cherrie. Make sure you go and kick up a storm to celebrate. I did Karoke with the girls at Holly's(28th St) and kicked some butt! Being locked up(in a sense) for 15 months--wow it was a riot. Have fun.

Holy cow, am I behind! Loved the dog photos, and Jeannie, I had pure lust over your garden photos. I would post one of my own, but it would be just one, scraggly, uninteresting tomato plant. You are a very talented and hard-working lady!

With the talk of thyroid, I just have to rant a little. Why don't they shield our thyroids when they're doing our rads? I'm pretty sure mine died as a result of radiation scatter, and although I tolerate my levothyroxin just fine, it makes me a little mad that my dead thyroid might have been avoided.

Still have the PICC line, still getting IV antibiotics three times a day. We give the first dose at 0445, when my DH is up already but I'm still snoring. He's so great...he sneaks in without waking me, flushes my line, plugs in the antibiotics, and 1/2 hour later when it's time for me to get up, he finishes things up with another flush, and I'm good to go. And yes, I know I'm very blessed with this guy!

It's cooling off here in So Cal, and I love it. It rained a bit last week, which settles the dirt on the trails and makes them more fun. No buzzy legless reptiles, Nihahi, but I did see a huge tarantula and a pair of beautiful blue jays.

Have a wonderful Saturday! The Michigan game is on at 1400 here and everyone's coming over, including Aubrey. I can't wait.

Katy- I am presently watching the Michigan State game. My hubby and I met and graduated from there. Both of our children and their spouses graduated from there too! We bleed green at this house. LOL

Question to all you medical people. My daughter fainted at 17 weeks pregnant and experienced a racing heart. Found out she is hyper thyroid (.00007) and is being sent to a specialist in Norfolk, VA that deals with that and high risk pregnancy. Please tell me that this won't affect my unborn grandchild. My daughter is so scared.
