    RETREAT INFORMATION!

I have had them hold 25 rooms for us for September 6-8. Unfortunately they will not take monies from individual attendees so I will be on the hook for the contract/deposits etc.  The cost will be $207 for the weekend- 2 nights 5 meals, plus state tax (6%) plus hotel tax (5%).  I will need to put down a deposit when I sign the contract.  We have to gaurantee TWENTY ATTENDEES.  That mean no matter what I am on the hook for about $4000.

Here is the list so far:

    1. Stride - Celia
    2. Websister - Laura
    3. Outdamnedspot-Jackie
    4. SherylB
    5. Scorchy-Susan
    6. Scottie-Christine
    7. MCook-Michele
    8. Ramols- Rachel (maybe)
    9. Liefie-Annemarie
    10. Joanne
    11. Tazzy - Michele (maybe)

Now that's only 11 and I don't have $2k if we don't have 20. That said, I am not signing anything until we do.  They are only holding it for a week.  IF WE MOVE FORWARD I will need a $100 depsit sent to me by each of you to hold your slot and chip in for the deposit that I will need to send in. I will try to set up a way to do this electronically.

I NEED YOUR THOUGHTS/FEEB BACK ASAP PLEASE.  AND IF YOU HAVEN'T COMMITTED YET, BUT PLAN ON COMING NOW'S YOUR CHANCE!

Well didn't do cooking yesterday - but we have a day off today - Family Day - so off to the kitchen I go today.

Sorry to all I have missed - hugs to you all xxxxxxxxxxxx

Sonson, we'll be in your pockets tomorrow for that first mammo post treatment. Still remember how stressed I was for my first one. If it's any consolation, I've had a second mammo already, and I was way calmer than the first time. The anxiety level goes down as you get further away from the active treatment phase. Let us know how it went, please. (((((BIG HUGS!))))

Juneau, just love how you describe my marriage as 'perfectly flawed'. That's exactly what it is. Perfection is a very stupid myth that just does not exist. One has to learn to say 'good enough'. I wish you many more happy years with your DH. One day at a time . . .

Well here I am.  One year out from dx.  Had my mammogram, colonoscophy, and a brain MRI and everything is clear.  :woowho:  I see my oncologist and breast surgeon tomorrow, but after the radiologist called this morning (scared me he did, calling like that) and assured me that everything looks good... I'm not nearly as anxious as I was.

I do have surgery next week to deal with SEs from Tamoxifen, and I expect my PT to fit me for LE night garments, but I guess on balance, I'm happy to be where I am.

Hope everyone here is doing well!  I've been offline lately, but I think of you often. I'm stronger, just because you all are here.

Juneau- As much as I would love to go, I won't be able to. I plan on spending my vacation with my family WITHOUT surgery this year.

Cindyl- Congrats on all your clean exams.

Sonson- with you as well tomorrow.

me and the bitch got a workout today. It's been a while since she and I have worked out. It felt great to get on there and clear my mind of all the stresses the last several weeks. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Ok ladies. It seems there will be no retreat as we don't have enough interest to meet minimum requirements. At least not at this location, so I will keep looking.

Sonson, Got room in your pockets for mammo tomorrow?I will come and bring some snow for you to play with.

Scottie, didyou ever notice that no matter how long you leave the laundry no one ever breaks in and steals it? It is always there, just waiting and waiting.

Juneau, I'm interested in the retreat...wherever it ends up being. I just love the idea and thank you for your efforts.

Thanks everyone for tagging along.  The radiologist dr went ahead and read my x-rays while I was waiting and said that everything looked clear.  Whew!  I hope it does get easier the further I get away from treatment.  I may just have a heart attack just from the stress of getting mammos every six months!  Or maybe I should just cut the damn things off!  Thanks, Cowpower I would love to play in the snow.  I'm so jealous of all your snow!  I know you probably think I'm crazy, but we hardly ever get any of that stuff down here so...

Juneau, I'm interested in the retreat, but my DH needs to find a job before I can commit to anything.  He lost his job two days after I was diagnosed with BC.  I guess it worked out since he was there every step of the way to take care of me and to go with me to every single appointment, but I sure wish he would start getting interviews now.

YAY Sonson!!!! So happy for you! And you've got a kind doc too who doesn't make you wait and stress even more. Will send positive vibes to your DH too for getting those job interviews!

Juneau, thank you so much for your efforts. It is always difficult to get so many people together. Not easy to pull off, but if you organize something, I will try my best to be there.

Cindyl, glad to hear that you're doing so well. Good luck on the upcoming surgery!

I'm having minor surgery under local anaesthetic tomorrow for a blocked tear duct. Nothing major, more of a nuisance that anything else. Apparently have to keep icing the eye for three days afterwards - now will that be fun or what?

    Have a great day everybody!

Great relief sonson. I just went through that a few weeks ago. Am sure my bp was way up for the 20 mins i had to wait.

Liefie, open those pockets. I am sure all will go fine! I had cataract in one eye a few years ago while in my late 40's and had surgery with no anesthetic, only numbing drops. Doing all the drops after was a chore. Follow dr's orders and let the dh help you out.

    Thanks Aruba!

liefie- Good luck on surgery tomorrow.  My daughter was born with one tear duct blocked and she had to have that surgery at six months old.  Of course when you're that young you heal pretty quickly.  I hope you heal just as quickly though!

Cindyl- Good luck to you as well on surgery.  I have a LE night garment also.  Looks like an oven mitt!  It's not too bad though.  It's way better than being wrapped up in those bandages that they put you in.

Thanks ladies.  Finished the rounds of onc, bs etc., today.  Everyone agrees, I'm doing well "cancer wise" Other than the eye thing, I don't think I have but the eye doctor, the let, and the dentist for 3 months.  Whoo who.  I'm feeling more optimistic than I have since this started.  It was a rugged trip, but maybe the worst is over.

Chrisrenee - I'm here. Been reading and keeping up as best I can, but not focused enough to post in the way I want to post. I think when I feel like I can't address folks personally, I sometimes avoid posting. You all do such a good job of addressing me personally when I need it - and I find i have trouble these days returning the favor. Silly - I know, but there you have it. Sending positive vibes to those who need it, and hugs to all. Hanging in over here. Terrible rash on my back and arms - i think a reaction to the sheet I lie on at radiation, so I brought my own today and just started using a cream they gave me. Fingers crossed it clears up. 5 of 25 treatments crossed off my list at this point. Not too bad. Hope you're all feeling as good as you can and finding small victories and happy in every day. Love and hugs!

Ramols- you don't have to post individually, just check in and say hi and let us know how you are doing. Congrats on 5 down! That's a huge feat in itself! So proud of you for keeping your spirits up. We love you!
