How about stupid actions? What's the first thing people do when you tell them you have breast cancer? They immediately look down at your boobies. Some of them try to be subtle about it, but they all do. I secretly love ❤ to watch them squirm. I am evil or what?😈 heehee

I'm snorting and laughing @ the 1000 lb capacity. OMD somebody had to have broken the toilet---serious. Hospital folks don't kid. Must have been a mess. Still laughing............and laughing.

Glad to hear that the Rules of Navigation may be helpful. Modify them as you wish. It was therapeutic for me to write. It helped me and my friends. I noticed an immediate change in their attitude. They were no longer afraid to approach me. No one was ever offended. They took their que from me, but now they could read the signs.

Hello everyone! I was recently diagnosed with the stage 3 BC. Somehow friend of mine ( not a very close friend) found out about my situation and texted me if it was truth. I said yes it is , I have a stage 3 BC. He asked for my prognoses , I responded.... After he asked if I'm on any treatment, I said I have to get more than year of treatment. So 2 weeks later this "friend" is texting me again and asking: "are you still fighting?" !!!!!!!! Seriously????!!! I wanted to text him back saying: "No! I gave up and I died! So I'm not fighting anymore!!!"!!!!! What kind of question is that???? What I supposed to answer ????

And another "friend", he is actually a coworker, told me if I can't find a man for myself since I don't have my breast anymore, he will be there for me and he sent his nude picture .

I hadn't had any stupid comments for quite awhile, I thought I was finally in the clear,,,nope. I went to get my eyes checked since my prescription seemed off after I finished chemo. So assistant comes in to pre-checks. First he argues with me about getting dilation drops, I had told them when I made the appointment that I wanted NO drops since my eyes are very sensitive from the chemo. I won that argument by just refusing. Then he is doing one of the eye check and says "Wow, you don't have any eyelashes". Then I was pissed and said "No shit Sherlock, 4 months of chemo will do that for you. It is great fun , you should try it. Are you done yet?" He didn't say another word. When the Dr came in he asked me how I was and I told him about the exchange. He apologized and I got finished. He called the next day to apologize again and tell me that he and the other Drs met and decided to let the assistant go. Apparently it wasn't the first time he made a bad "joke". Sucks to piss a recovering cancer patient off.

About chemo and eyes, though, you might want to wait a bit to get a new prescription. My regular eye checkup just happened to fall during chemo, and the eye dr told me that he would look at them and see if they look healthy and all that part, but he wouldn't even bother doing the part where they determine your prescription because chemo affects your eyes. He had me come back 6 months after chemo was done, for that part. Interesting, huh?

The prescription was off enough that I was getting g headaches...I will have to go back in 6 months for a recheck....I chalked it up to the cost of getting back to normal.

The thing is that this guy with the nude pic didn't think he was doing something wrong. The way he said was like- oh you poore thing , no breast, and soon are going to lose the hair so nobody will ah be an interest in you, so he thinks he is a savior.... Of course I'm not going to report him to HR or police. I have a lot to worry about right now and I don't want to deal with this too. I just want so much to be done with treatment and go back to normal life. And hopefully not to get too many stupid commends.

At least this guy with nude pic wasn't really a friend, just a coworker .... But my best friend for 20 years (We used to have same classes at University in Russia). She still lives in Russia but I used to call her almost every day, that's how close we were. So when I told her about myself, Her reaction was like, " oh well, calm down, we all going to die". I was crying and saying that I'm 38 and I have a daughter to support, all she could say that my daughter will find her way to live without you. So basically in her mind she didn't even give me the hope that I'll recover. Like a death sentence . I don't call her anymore.... Her reaction was way more upsetting . At least the guy is not too smart, and I knew it. But this girl.... I could never expect something like this from HER.

Ruska....You know your friend and co-worker better than we do. I can understand your just letting it go. You have a lot on your plate right now. It's like my daughter wants me to file a law suit with PremPro (hrt drug that I took), but I told her to just let me focus on beating this cancer. It's a full-time job in itself.
This thing we're all going through, yes, it's about us. But our friends, family and coworkers are dealing with it too, in their own ways. I've found that it helps me to tell them, no teach them, how to act around me. I'm very up front with them. I even wrote a set of "rules" and gave them all a copy. They all appreciated the rules, because they don't know what to do or say either. I've learned that when someone tells me something disturbing, like your best friend, I just stop them and say, "Are you sure this is what you really want to say to me right now?" It shuts them up and they realized they've broken one of my rules, but I don't hold it against them. They don't know.
I would still send your co-worker the John Wayne stupid thing. He can still be your friend, but you owe it to him, and yourself, to educate him. He may turn out to be your best ally. You never know. Friendship comes out of the most unexpected places. Our perception and view of things are permanently changed. That's neither good or bad. It just is.

The one I hate the most is "well I have enough boobs for the both of us! You can have some of mine!" From sister-in-law. Also the "well you're looking good!" one.

I don't really care at least now that I don't have boobs. All I care is to get trough the treatment and survive and live as long as possible.

My neighbor , a lady, she gave me an advise about side effects of chemo . She said everything is in your mind. She said just imagine that you don't have any SE and you will not. It's very easy she said. So next time I see her she ask me how I was doing, I said I was fine, and she said oh I'm so tired after work. Then I told her that it was just in her mind, I said just imagine that you just woke up and you are full of energy! And you can go back to work for another shift. She looked at me like I was crazy. Or may be she is right and I'm going crazy for real....
