Micmel, I envy your cold nights. We were at 91 degrees today. I am so tired of hot weather! I think my puppies are tired of it too.
Hope you are on the mend

Thinking of Magda and feeling sad. Reading everything. Hi to all. Micmel, hope your face is doing better!

Seems like this is a funky month. Several people I’ve talked to are in funks. Maybe it’s the change in weather?
Micmel, you puppers looks super comfy. My old man sleeps weird on his bed. I’m not sure if he is comfy or not! This is an old pic, but he still does it

Bella~Last night I had to break out the second blanket, and I got my doggies blankets out as well. I believe when I woke up this morning we had a freeze warning under effect. I love going back to bed on days like this. Will your weather Cool down soon?
Minnie~ how about your weather? Fall reach there ?
Runor~Face is healing. Don't like that I look scrappy, like I went a few rounds with the concrete and of course the concrete was a clear winner. Falls really suck as you age. I guess that's why they are always asking about if I've taken one or not.
Parry~ looks like that dog is exactly where he wants to be. Enjoying his little doggie bed., not a care in the world. I love dogs, so much they make me very happy ! Unconditional love. Much love ~M~

Love the pictures of all of the doggies keeping warm!! I have my brothers dog here while he is on vacation and she snuggles up right against the heating vent. My cats find any sliver of sun and plant themselves there. Micmel, the change in weather has been quick hasn’t it? We went from air conditioning to heat in a day or 2. Still have all of my summer things outside and most of my flowers are still alive. Guess that’s a weekend project. Good morning to all!!!0
-
Lynnwood~Hi there. I could not believe that I felt the heat go on last night....when I got up in the middle of the night, it was very cold. I have it set to 65. So it dropped to under that in the house alone. I broke out two blankets. Time to break out the warmer night shirts also. Well we all wanted fall and we all know fall leads to winter. Much love ~M~
Mae~Winter is coming.

Hi everyone, first weather Micmel, I have now brought out the lightest duvet! Still lovely in day time but cooler at night. Don't need any heat inside either, so can't complain. Will send you a pic later!!
A question, I would be grateful if anyone could help. My hip now causes quite a limp which is helped when using crutches. The BIG thing over the last couple of weeks is...when I waken in the morning, get out of bed, given that I have been sleeping well and comfortably. As soon as I am up, the pain in my leg is so bad, I mean bring me to tears pain! Doc recommended taking painkillers early and staying in bed for a while, but who doesn't need to pee??? When I walk from bed to loo, the pain in all my leg is dreadful. DH is massaging my leg for a good 5 minutes. The pain teaches right up to by back, so could be nerve related. I feel as if when I lie down, everything moves and then I have to gradually get it all back into place. I have taken my Targin, a sniff of Fentanyl, and paracetamol by now, so 45 minutes after massage, stretching I can start to move. Any advice greatly appreciated xxx

hi Minnie, do you think one of those fast tens units would help? Theybcan be bought at wal mart and have a pad or two you place in the sore area. It stimulates the nerves. Icy hot makes one and many other brands too. I loved using it for my sore back, like a massage. I'm just wondering how safe they really are? They use them to stimulate healing after a surgery.
Just and idea to try, I know mine helped tons but since stage iv I haven't used it. Maybe ask your doctor about it

Micmel, looks like we have a ways to go before we get cool weather. I will live vicariously through you guys who actually get to experience a seasonal change.
Here are my pups...Chloe is my useless beagle and Beauty is my grand dog. She is a solid black terrier mix.

Tanya~My doggies are spoiled for sure. That’s is a thoughtful thing to say to me. Thank you so much. I do love my peeps and you happen to be one of them, so you’re loved also. Very much.
Minnie~Sounds definitely like nerve pain. Maybe is your sciatica nerve I know that ends up giving many people problems. Sometimes a physical therapist can edge that pain right out with some excersises and stretching and hot and cold applications. Just don’t let it to go. It is super painful I know. I’m so sorry. No one needs additional pain. No way!
Skitz~ welcome to the thread!! Ty very much for sharing your experience with us. Any little ideas always seem to help us. Nothing better than first hand experience! Hope you’re enjoying your foliage. If you have some !
Bella~I love Beagles. I wanted a beagle when my kids were young, they were sooo expensive so I did a little research and found that coonhounds are just like them but bigger. I didn’t mind. I love beagles. I also have grand puppy named chief. He’s a St. Bernard and massive. I haven’t had a recent pic. But I’m going to ask for one!!! Love seeing the pups!
Mae~ love you honey.

Happy friday to everyone and hello 👋🏼
Minnie, I was thinking what could help, and if it is nerve pain (potentially from sciatic nerve) you could try upping your antioxidants. They are supposed to help your body fight inflammation which is one of the causes of sciatica or maybe another nerve being pinched. I get sciatica in my right leg often and before I went on Immunotherapy I would take a turmeric supplement and try to eat food rich in antioxidants...it helped a lot. It may also help if it’s just muscle inflammation. No one wants to do stretches for 20 min before they can go to the bathroom in the night! This Avastin I’m getting right now make my whole body ache and very stiff. I have a hard time getting around until I get ‘warmed up’. So sorry you have this additional pain to deal with. Have you mentioned it to the doc? Maybe they know some tips/tricks/medicine or if it’s something to be concerned with outside of nerve issues.
Bella - love the sleeping pups. That’s almost the only time mine let me take a picture
Hope everyone else has a beautiful weekend ahead!0 -
Thanks Ladies. I do have a tens, and hadn't thought to try it, so will give it a go. I do think it's from the sciatic nerve, as comes from low centre back right down to my foot. I am stretching and it helps. Oncologist did increase pain meds but don't want to keep doing that. Will take your advice too Parry xx
Our threat of rain didn't happen today, and it was a beautiful sunny October day. We had lunch overlooking the sea, and some people were swimming in the sea too. We have a Painter in today, so had to get out of the way. The only thing is, tomorrow everything has to be put back where it belongs. Curtains need washed before being rehung. Oh dear!!
Love the doggies. My cousin is visiting and brought her little schnauzer. Makes me want a dog, except I don't know how I would walk it. I suppose I could take it alongside my electric scooter lol. and if it got tired I could carry it

Micmel, please forgive me if I’m being forward but check with your onc regarding the tens unit. I have one also and it was very effective but was told by a physical therapist that the tens unit is not for use in cancer patients because of the fear of “ stimulating “ the cancer cells. Imagine my surprise when my onc agreed that it was “ best to not use it.”0
-
Minnie~ I would ask my onc about everything before using anything. I do have a tens unit also but I haven't used it since I got cancer. I went to a physical therapist and they did the stretches and helped a great deal with The ice and heat. Ask for naproxen as well. That's helped me also. Try to stay off of it when you're in bed also.
Lynnwood~ I had heard no acupuncture, then I heard other patients doing it. I heard no deep massage. So maybe checking on the tense unit would be best, with your team. I don't really know because I haven't attempted to use mine. As of yet.
Waving hello to Parry
Lynne (50's) ~Miss you. Thinking of you

As far as acupuncture and massage go I think it just depends on the treatment you are on. When I was on AC chemo my immune system was shit so onc said no acupuncture since that might increase my risk of getting sick. Now I’m on Immunotherapy and she is encouraging me to get massage and acupuncture. Your doctor will know best about the intricacies of your therapy and all the do’s and don’t’s that go it. Like right now I’m also not supposed to take any tuneric or antioxidants because they are also act like immune supressers and can work against the Immunotherapy in high enough doses. I always hear about not drink grapefruit juice too...
In Fall spirit we are going to paint pumpkins this weekend. We never used to do any of the seasonal/holiday stuff. Now I see it as making memories and spending time with my loved ones. Wish me luck, haha. I’ll post some pics next week.

Parry~I just wish they would come up with a cure already. I mean enough time has gone by. It's not like they just realized it was killing millions of people everywhere. I just hope they at least see it, in my DD's generation or my Grand children's generation. Something has got to give. Seriously.!
A perfect example is Magda, wonderful woman, thank you for sharing your touching tribute to Magda and sharing it with us. Magda kept us on our toes for sure. We were so thrilled about her home. She finally felt that feeling of owning the house. She wanted on her own. Missing her wit and her good advice. Another one gone way to soon. (Keetmom). (patty) it just isn't fair and every loss is just gut wrechingly difficult to take! Welcome to our thread bandwoman. Thanks for thinking of us. Magda was definitely part of our family.
Much love ~M~

Lynnwood, forgive me for saying this, and this is not aimed at you but is a general statement of my 'out there' opinions, but I think it was you who said that our doctors know best.
No. No they don't.
Our doctors know lots. Our doctors know about what's available to them to help us battle cancer. They know protocols. They know legal limitations. They know studies. But they DO NOT know everything.
There may be a solid reason for an oncologist to say that electrical currents stimulate cancer. Or there may be NO REASON AT ALL other than the medical community DOES NOT KNOW how electrical stimulation affects cancer. Many medical professionals, rather than admit they do not know something and can neither support nor reject something, choose to reject it. Just cause. Cause they don't know. And in that case they decide to err on the side of caution. While you may believe your doctor does this with your best interest at heart, it's actually a knee-jerk reaction that is dishonest.
In the fight against pain, in the fight for better quality of life, it is (in my opinion) malpractice for a doctor to make a statement (TENS stimulates cancer cells) unless he can lay the scientific research on the table to prove and uphold his viewpoint. Sometimes doctors say things that are in THEIR best interest, not yours. He might not be able to tell you it's harmless, he might have no information saying that TENS is safe for cancer patients. But he also might NOT have information saying that it isn't! So who is being served with the sweeping statement that Tens machines are not good for cancer patients? You or the doctor?
They pump us full of chemo, which we KNOW is not good for us. They shoot us full of radiation which they KNOW is not good for us. They inject dyes into us, anesthetics, they cut into our bodies, all for a good purpose, all to help us and ALL OF IT carries known risks and some of those risks are huge! In light of that, in the face of all the risks that you have been subject to in this cancer cesspool, electrical stimulation for pain control is where your doctor decides to say no?
I submit to my doctor's superior knowledge. But I do not go quietly. Statements such as "TENS machines stimulate cancer cells" had bloody well better be backed up with HARD and thorough evidence and yes, I demand that my doctors show me the PROOF of their claims. I am entitled to be assured that if my doc says to run into traffic or drink the snake oil that he does so with the backing of the medical community and hard research, and isn't just blowing smoke up my ass. Doctor's know lots, god bless 'em bt not everything. Ask the hard questions. A good doctor will have the hard answers.

it was me Lynwood, but after reading your post, will check with Oncologist before using. See her next week anyway. Thanks
Runor, very good point! We are told what to eat, to fill our bodies full of drugs. I raised the same point recently when my BIL said he had asked his doc about cbd, he has Crohns, and the doctor said he could not advise use. Fear of the unknown in the medical profession. If there's is no book with statistics they don't kno

I'm sick of all people in white coats, that say things like, scans, bloodwork. Step up here, sign this. This protects our ass in case something we tell you to do, that really isn't going to make you feel all that great. “But you can do it, I've never done it, so I have no idea how you'll feel, but you're strong “. “You got this".
Well did you doctor, ever think that maybe we don't got it? Do you even think we are all suffering, taking blindly these pills we cling to life with, it's really like a conveyor system, and I hate it. Love you all but, what brings us here. Love you guys!

I napped a good while today and I already can't wait to. Go back to bed, my mind isn't tired though anymore and my body knows it. It's one of those days where I would rather just not think. It's been a shitty month. I am constantly worried about what month number of ibrance I am on. I always read all the information I can about it. Some women exceed the mediums by a long time. My palliative care doctor told me she has three patients, one 48 months out, and two others are 39 and 36, months out. And still doing well. I have very little disease, just some little assholes managed to get to my spine. Everywhere else is ok. Just those Darn few spots. I am so hoping whatever is there is damaged and cannot do any harm. The calendar is creeping once again. It turns so fast. I don't want to step into the scanxiety feelings again. They are dark and lonely. It's a wonder we don't loose our minds!

Parrynd1, I see it was last year you were on ac combo. If you have any tips or trick you can remember, could you share them with me? I just had my first round this past Monday and praying it kills my stubborn liver mets.
Also wanting to know what to expect as far as side effects. I will get this every three weeks.
Thanks

runor- well said!
It is just crazy how many different opinions I get from the two doctors I see for my cancer. I can’t keep up! One says do this and the other says no. Same office and on a different page?
I’m on ac chemo and read take coq10 for the heart by ten people who said “my doctor said it’s ok”. Then i read, no it interferes, my doctor said no, no. What do I do? I feel more confused than when i started some times. I bet if I asked my doctor he would say no, vitamins don’t work. He doesn’t seem to be into any of that!

The feathers are drying and I have some more sequined work to be done. I have some touch ups and am hoping to be finished by Monday. I have to turn it in no later than the 24th. I have the inside of it partly sequined and will be really finishing it tomorrow! I hope everyone likes it. It would be nice to win....but I enjoy the creatively of it all, keeps my mind busy. I have even made more changes since this was taken!! Home stretch now! A nice luncheon/ dinner on the 25th to see who wins. Wish me luck ! My sweet love DH isnfoing with me. I am enjoying that greatly. The restaurant that I had the butter dumped on me provided us with a gift certificate. We we are going to go to dinner together. I’m always so proud to be with him. He’s so handsome. I often wonder why he chose me.?
