AC-T versus T-C
Hello, My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer with significant nodal involvement. She underwent a bilateral mastectomy and is gearing up to begin chemo. The doctor has strongly recommended AC-T. Before surgery, the doctor also mentioned T-C as an option but now with the discovery of extensive nodal involvement,…

Follow-Up Mammogram After Chemo
Hi all, I just finished 6 rounds of TCHP and had a follow-up mammogram (I am scheduled for surgery at the end of February). The mammogram shows the same amount of calcifications that I had BEFORE chemo. Has this happened to anyone else? I had two lumps in my breast and one under my arm that I can no longer feel, so I was…

Timing to switch to a new MO during her2 treatment
Hi, I would like some suggestions on when to switch to a new MO. I'm right now having 6 cycles of chemo. Then will have surgery followed by radiation. Right after chemo, will continue 9 months of immunotherapy, herceptin/perjeta orTDM1, depending on surgery result. (My MO is local while surgeon is in MSK, will choose a…

Port Placement Prior to Starting Chemo
Has anyone started weekly taxol prior to have a PORT placement? My doctor has told me it is ok to start treatments prior to having my PORT placed. I would like to postpone the PORT as long as possible, but I’m concerned how I will feel once I start taxol treatments. Thank you for any feedback.

Starting Chemo December 2021
'Tis the Season! I'm starting TC (Taxotere/Cytoxan) on December 1. I thought I'd start a thread for any other chemo-goers getting started or continuing in the month of December. I was diagnosed with IDC in mid-September during a routine mammogram. I had a lumpectomy in mid-October. Being called "Stage 1a" in my cancer…

Starting chemo February 2018
I've searched several times and have not found a thread for this. So... Anyone else out there? I'm starting 4 rounds of dose dense AC, followed by 12 weeks of Taxol. I'll be starting the week of the 4th and they're letting me decide what day to start on but I'm struggling to figure that out. I'm aiming to disrupt things…

Could Neulasta be optional for each cycle?
Hi, I would like your opinion on is it necessary to have Neulasta each time? My MO gave me the impression that it is NOT something optinal. I'm with her2 type and doing TCHP every 3 weeks. I already had 3 cycles and 3 left. My MO gave me Neulasta each time and white cell did come back to normal before the next cycle. Now…

Nail problem after Taxol
I finished Taxol in mid November. Last week I noticed some of my fingernails starting to lift from the bed. I see DERM for my regular appointment in a few weeks, so I will show her, but I'm thinking the Taxol? I wonder if it can affect things after the fact. Nails are otherwise ok and there was no nail trauma. I just…

Eye changes since Chemo?
I knew I was having problems seeing in my glasses and contacts (contacts were better), but was trying to wait for a little time to pass after chemo to go to the optician. Decided that I needed to go a bit sooner. Found out that my left eye has changed dramatically (right eye is exactly the same). Level 3 astigmatism in…

Anyone stop chemo due to ongoing and progressing side effects?
Hi, I finished 8 out of 12 Taxol and the first 4 A/C. At first the treatments were not awful, I have to say. Actually, I felt A/C was easier than the Taxol. But things have been getting progressively worse. GI, severe bone/muscle/joint pain, neuropathy in hands and feet, my legs felt like I could hardly stand sometimes and…

Depression

Olaparib-for Stage 2
I have researched on this site and only see Olaoarib on Stage IV only thread. I am Stage two with Brca2 and Her2+. My chemo ended last year in November, then I was moved to the "sister" of this new drug. 27 days in my blood numbers plunged. I was supposed to have a mastectomy then in mid January. Covid struck, so I had to…

Port removed vein still prominent
Hi Ladies! I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows what it could possibly be. I had a port placed in Nov 2020 and just had it finally removed the end of April 2022. For at least one year that I had the port and quite possibly longer, I noticed that the vein that had the catheter in it would stick out in a…

Starting Chemo January 2022
Didn’t see the January thread so I thought I’d start one. I had my first chemo treatment today. I have 4 treatments total, 3 weeks apart. I decided not to get a port and that worked out okay today. I also decided to do Penguin cold caps. I’m posting a before picture … I’ll post just before watch treatment to see if it’s…

If you ONLY received 12 week taxol did you lose your hair?
Good morning, My oncologist said I’d have hair thinning but the nurse said I’d likely lose my hair. Wondering if you only received taxol over 12 weeks (no dose dense or AC first) if you still lost your hair? If so, what week? I tried looking in the weekly taxol group but it’s so many post to weed through. Thank you!

Heavy Legs/No Energy!!
I just completed my 4th round of chemo on May 6th. I am HER2 positive and am receiving Herceptin, Perjeta and Taxotere every 3 weeks. Nausea has been the absolute worst from the beginning, but I'm now experiencing a real heaviness in my legs which makes it difficult to walk any considerable distance. I get super tired and…

Post Chemo CT-Scan
My wife has almost completed her chemo and the doctor has ordered a CT-Scan. Originally he wanted a PET scan but insurance wouldn't pay. Is it normal protocol to order a CT-Scan shortly before the end of chemo? I heard that there are often many false positives and negatives and that the scan doesn't tell you much. She was…

Neuropathy Reactivated by COVID Booster

I was surprised when I developed significant neuropathy…

Sleepless nights- natural remedy anyone?
I had my 1st of 4 TC this week. Haven't slept much since then, it's day 3 today. I took one Ativan at the time of treatment, I thought that might put me to sleep, but nothing happened! I don't want to take any medicine for it. Does anyone have any success with a natural remedy?

Starting Chemo October 2021
Hello all, I am starting chemo on October 6th and thought I'd start a discussion thread for others who may be in the same boat. I am doing dose dense AC followed by weekly taxol. I'm still trying to get used to the idea that I actually have cancer, so chemo is still very much a word more than a reality, but I am trying my…

AC versus TC - how to decide?
hi all, my girlfriend has seen three oncologists in two days - two of them recommended 4 cycles of TC. one doctor recommended 4 cycles of AC or 6 cycles of TC. these were based on her oncotype score of 26. how do we go about making a decision? is the AC worth the small percentage benefit at RS 26? we are so confused!!…

Pain w/Port?
I got my port in November. It's never been comfortable, I don't have much tissue around it and any time it's bumped or manipulated, I can feel it. It's been used for four rounds of AC, and seven rounds of Taxol. The last couple rounds of Taxol have been painful - the port area beneath the skin is burning, my arm feels like…

starting chemo 5 months after surgery - how effective?
Hi, for different reasons (genetics, covid etc) I will be starting chemo 5 months after the surgey. I am aware that this long delay does not give the best results of decreasing the recurancy or/and metastasis. Of course every patient is different, I am Stage II, clear margins and no positive nodes, howerver the tumor was…
