Has anyone chosen not to do chemo?
I saw the radiation oncologist today and he said that I have to do 9 sessions of rads, 5 whole breast and 4 on the surgery site. He also told me that because I am triple negative that it is highly likely that they will suggest chemo. My husband is very wary of chemo and keeps saying, it's your decision, you do what is…

Severe Headache after first TCH infusion
I had my first TCH infusion and was doing fine until night 4 when I developed a murderous migraine level headache that lasted 5 days. I didn’t sleep for 4 nights. It didn’t help that it was the weekend so I couldn’t get help right away. I suspect it was the Olanzapine. I have a note in to the doctor so I’ll see what he…

Period during chemo?
Hi everyone - I’ve had 2 rounds of weekly Taxol and Herceptin and my period showed up right on time today. Is this normal? I thought they would stop? Does this mean the treatment isn’t effective enough at killing cells?

Just really sad
I am mourning today I think. Had my first chemo session a little over three weeks ago and it went fine. The day before my second I started the routine again of taking my steroids with a fasting bar and then continuing to fast through the day. Five and a half hours after taking my steroid I suddenly developed stroke like…

allergy and skin issues post-chemo?
Hi all, I finished active chemo in Oct 2018 - did a year and a half total of Taxol, Red Devil, Cisplatin and Xeloda. I'm having so many allergy issues and skin problems and I wonder if anyone else has had these problems after chemo. I feel permanently altered. Right now, I have swelling under my eyes and extremely…

Starting AC-T chemo, wigs, side effects - please help!
Hello everyone, I have just got my post-surgery report and it's not good. Three cm IDC and 4/5 lymph nodes involved. I am having a CT scan tomorrow to check for any mets. So it's stage 3 at best… I will be starting AC-T chemo as soon as the port is placed. And more lymph node dissection eventually and rads. Questions. I…

ziextenzo and how long does bone pain last with it
Had my first ziextenzo shot last Saturday evening, 24 hours after my chemo. I have some bone pain with it and I was wondering how long I can expect it to last. It seems better on some days and then other not so great. I have some meloxicam and I will occasionally take that and it does help (over the counter ibuprofin seems…

Freezing during chemo and questions
So I had my first chemo today and iced my hand and feet and used a cold cap. It was brutal. The ice cap was actually quite tolerable. So tolerable that it makes me wonder if it worked. But my hair was frozen when I took it off so I hope that was a good sign. My hands and feet though were not even a bit tolerable. I broke…

AC-T versus T-C
Hello, My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer with significant nodal involvement. She underwent a bilateral mastectomy and is gearing up to begin chemo. The doctor has strongly recommended AC-T. Before surgery, the doctor also mentioned T-C as an option but now with the discovery of extensive nodal involvement,…

Follow-Up Mammogram After Chemo
Hi all, I just finished 6 rounds of TCHP and had a follow-up mammogram (I am scheduled for surgery at the end of February). The mammogram shows the same amount of calcifications that I had BEFORE chemo. Has this happened to anyone else? I had two lumps in my breast and one under my arm that I can no longer feel, so I was…

Timing to switch to a new MO during her2 treatment
Hi, I would like some suggestions on when to switch to a new MO. I'm right now having 6 cycles of chemo. Then will have surgery followed by radiation. Right after chemo, will continue 9 months of immunotherapy, herceptin/perjeta orTDM1, depending on surgery result. (My MO is local while surgeon is in MSK, will choose a…

Port Placement Prior to Starting Chemo
Has anyone started weekly taxol prior to have a PORT placement? My doctor has told me it is ok to start treatments prior to having my PORT placed. I would like to postpone the PORT as long as possible, but I’m concerned how I will feel once I start taxol treatments. Thank you for any feedback.

Starting Chemo December 2021
'Tis the Season! I'm starting TC (Taxotere/Cytoxan) on December 1. I thought I'd start a thread for any other chemo-goers getting started or continuing in the month of December. I was diagnosed with IDC in mid-September during a routine mammogram. I had a lumpectomy in mid-October. Being called "Stage 1a" in my cancer…

Starting chemo February 2018
I've searched several times and have not found a thread for this. So... Anyone else out there? I'm starting 4 rounds of dose dense AC, followed by 12 weeks of Taxol. I'll be starting the week of the 4th and they're letting me decide what day to start on but I'm struggling to figure that out. I'm aiming to disrupt things…

Could Neulasta be optional for each cycle?
Hi, I would like your opinion on is it necessary to have Neulasta each time? My MO gave me the impression that it is NOT something optinal. I'm with her2 type and doing TCHP every 3 weeks. I already had 3 cycles and 3 left. My MO gave me Neulasta each time and white cell did come back to normal before the next cycle. Now…

Nail problem after Taxol
I finished Taxol in mid November. Last week I noticed some of my fingernails starting to lift from the bed. I see DERM for my regular appointment in a few weeks, so I will show her, but I'm thinking the Taxol? I wonder if it can affect things after the fact. Nails are otherwise ok and there was no nail trauma. I just…

Eye changes since Chemo?
I knew I was having problems seeing in my glasses and contacts (contacts were better), but was trying to wait for a little time to pass after chemo to go to the optician. Decided that I needed to go a bit sooner. Found out that my left eye has changed dramatically (right eye is exactly the same). Level 3 astigmatism in…

Anyone stop chemo due to ongoing and progressing side effects?
Hi, I finished 8 out of 12 Taxol and the first 4 A/C. At first the treatments were not awful, I have to say. Actually, I felt A/C was easier than the Taxol. But things have been getting progressively worse. GI, severe bone/muscle/joint pain, neuropathy in hands and feet, my legs felt like I could hardly stand sometimes and…

If you ONLY received 12 week taxol did you lose your hair?
Good morning, My oncologist said I’d have hair thinning but the nurse said I’d likely lose my hair. Wondering if you only received taxol over 12 weeks (no dose dense or AC first) if you still lost your hair? If so, what week? I tried looking in the weekly taxol group but it’s so many post to weed through. Thank you!
