Radiation recovery
Hi I know there is another thread but I thought, since it is 60 pages old, I would start a new one for those of us just finishing radiation. My hope is that we can discuss remedies to avoid, tight skin, discuss the emotional side of being at this point of treatment, continue to support one another and keep in touch.

Could you recommend a good radiation oncologist in MSK/Sloan?
Any pink sisters treated in MSK/Sloan? I would like your recommendation of a good radiation oncologist! My BS recommented someone in NYC. As I live in NJ, I feel impossible to go to NYC everyday. I'm close to MSK Basking Ridge, however, the radiation oncologists seems very young. Also, it is possible/normal to seek second…

Missing radiation treatments and increased recurrence of cancer.
I had my first 4 treatments last week, then the machine broke. I had no treatment on Friday or Monday. So 4 treatments and then 4 days no treatment. I was reading a few statistics regarding missing treatments, and according to some data, missing even 1 treatment increases the risk of recurrence. My concern is after only 4…

Implant failure after radiation
I had a double mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction. I will need to have radiation, since there was cancer in one of my lymph nodes. Has anyone out here been through this? I'd like to know what the percentage of implant failure exists out here with radiation - not from research reports. I would also like to…

Radiation Dermatitis severe
Hello Everyone, I was diagnosed with a reoccurrence after 7 years. I had a lymph node dissection on July 8th. I finished 16 rounds of radiation on September 23. I started to develop burns by end of week 2. It has gotten progressively worse. I have seen my radiologist twice since because all the "treatments" aren't working.…

Does radiation after lumpectomy usually include the chest wall?
Hi - I'm confused - I am in a situation where I need to choose whether to stick with a lumpectomy, or just go forward with a mastectomy. They want to give me radiation either way. I want to minimize the dose to lungs and heart (family history). So I'm trying to understand whether radiation is less intensive or more…

NSABP B-51 trial, for radiation after pCR in the lymph nodes?
Has anyone heard of this trial? It's for people who were initially node-positive, but ended up having a pCR after chemo, to see whether nodal radiation or post-mastectomy radiation is really necessary. The details are here: https://ascopubs.org/doi/abs/10.1200/JCO.2019.37.1... I know it's closed to newcomers now, but…

UK question - what cream to use during radiotherapy and how?
A friend in the UK had a UMX without reconstruction a few weeks ago and will be having several weeks of radiotherapy/radiation treatment shortly. She doesn't use any social media tools so asking this on her behalf. I never had radiation, just surgery for my BC but remember reading that there is a cream to use during that…

Is There a Timeline within which Radiation needs to occur?
I have a pretty large seroma in my breast near the tumor incision. I met with radiology Fri and she said it has to resolve before I have my "Planning Appt" as if they make all their marks and the seroma continues to get bigger or smaller, everything will be off. I've had this at least for several weeks. I saw the PA at the…

Radiation Induced Morphea of the Breast
hi everyone!!! last fall I was dx'd with radiation induced Morphea 8.5 years after my last treatment. I am currently seeing a radiation oncologist, who has only seen this twice in 20+ years. It is fairly rare and because it is, there are not any tried and true treatment options. I think this may be because a lot of us are…

How much worse were side effects after your last treatment?
I am done my radiation tomorrow. I have had 14/15 whole breast radiation treatments. My skin/breast in general is holding up well. I'm a bit pink and slightly/moderately itchy along my reduction scar line. I'd say it's a 3/10 right now. Fatigue is another story. It was fine until about half way. I have days where it's…

Low lymphocytes and a wonky blood work.
I had 28 rounds of rads in March 2022. Finished in April. I had chemo and surgery before that. My blood work was always good. Until after rads. Now my Lymphocytes are low. My WBC is fine. But my Lymphocytes could be low because I also have an autoimmune thyroid disorder. What I want to know is has anyone else had wonky…

Itchy nipple months after ending radiation
Hi all, Please forgive me if this is covered in another post. I searched but couldn’t find anything that answered my question. I finished 21 days of radiation (with a boost) at the end of April. I had some minor burns in the armpit area that have healed. Since finishing treatment my Areola and nipple have started to peel…

Anyone get nauseous from treatments?
I'm only on day 4, but I seem to be dealing with nausea. I've read that this is a rare side effect. Then I'm trying to figure out is it because I'm lying on my belly while the treatment is happening? But it seems to be lasting into the rest of the day, not just right after the treatment. Just wondering if anyone else has…

I am scheduled for the imaging and planning of upcoming Edge Knife radiation to my brain. I had one mass, large at 4.2cm. It was in the occipital and parietal lobe area, so the upper back part of my…

Pulmonary Fibrosis / lung scarring after Rads???
Question: I am curious about women who had pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lungs) as a result of receiving radiation treatments...Did you also have a lot of the blistering and break down of your skin surface from the treatments? I'm just thinking there could be some kind of connection to the two things, so if you know…
