How high is high for the CA27/29?
I know there is a lot of controversy re tumor markers....some of you don't have the test done, some oncos don't use it as a test because it is not always an accurate diagnostic tool However, in my case, they have ALWAYS been very accurate and when they go up, I have always had either an increase in tumor size or a new…

Unfortunately things are going downhill
Funny how this crap can change so quickly. Up until September, I had one lonely bone met. Since then, it seems to be on the run. I had several new bone mets in September with one liver met. I was switched to Afinitor and Aromasin. For 2 months my markers were dropping and we were all excited. At the end of December I had a…

SEX - Very Raw Post
Sex. Why does it have to be so complicated? After 13 years of marriage plus 7 more years of dating, one would think we would have it down. But add cancer, chemotherapy and a hysterectomy to the equation and we are fucked. Did I mention I am only 39? When I first met my husband we had sex all the time. It was great for both…

Who has CA27.29 Values returned to normal? What happened after?
I happened to read this: "Tumour marker values return to normal may indicate cure despite radiographic evidence of persistent disease.(2) In this circumstance, the residual tumour is often non-viable." ( https://patient.info/doctor/tumour-markers#ref-2) This statement is not referring to CA 27.29 in particular, nor about…

Vertigo? Brain mets? Afraid to know
About 10 days ago, I experienced some crazy vertigo. It happened when I was working out. I bent over to do a burpee and the whole floor kind of went sideways on me. Then I felt like I could feel my whole sinuses move around during push ups. I thought maybe I was having sinus issues so I called in to Tel-a-doc and got…

A fix for those awful leg cramps.
This post might make me sound like the crackpot of the year, but I think I have stumbled on a fix for those wretched nighttime leg cramps that plague some of us. Since starting herceptin/perjeta/navelbine over a year ago, I have been awakened repeatedly, sometimes several times a night, by "charley horse" type cramps in…

Question about the shingles vaccine
Have any of you gotten a shingles vaccination? I have always been extremely anti adult flu vaccinations, believing they're a crapshoot at best. But someone I know (who does not have mbc) now has a severe case of the shingles, and she is urging everyone to get the shingles vaccine. I'm going to email my onc about this, but…

"Hail Mary" miracles
So I'm sitting here in the hospital, wondering how I went from some shortness of breath to possibly the End of the Road. It really wasn't so bad before, but now I can't breathe and they act like it's no big deal. I am literally struggling for breath, but they say the oxygen level in my blood is too high, so it is okay that…

What if Tamoxifen didnt work?
Once I finished radiation , I was put onto Tamoxifen . At that stage I was given the all clear and clean. I hadn't been on Tamoxifen for 2 months when I found out that the cancer had spread to my bones and lungs. My oncologist thinks that the Tamoxifen didn't work , hence the spread. I have two cycles of chemo left and…

Time for hospice and Im really scared
Yesterday my palliative onc told me he was going to recommend me for hospice as he believes I have less than 6 months left. My medical onc had told me the same thing last week so this was a second opinion. I told him I would get on the researching and find the one I wanted to be referred to. Then today I started getting…
