Talk with others facing decisions about whether or not to have breast reconstruction, and if so, what type and when.
I haven't been able to find a case like mine so hoping I find someone here. In 2018 I had breast augmentation. Then in 2019 I had HER2 positive cancer, chemo, lumpectomy and radiation. Had pretty bad capsular contracture so underwent 3 revision surgeries over 3 years and was pretty happy with the results. Fast forward to…
I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction ten years ago after having stage 1 ILC. I did NOT take the prescribed Tamoxifen. Now I have a hard knot/lump that also appears to be bruising under my right implant. It is sore and sometimes throbs or feels like it’s stinging when I am just sitting still. Anyone know what this…
Hi All, I'm scheduled for a delayed pedicled TRAM flap right breast reconstructive surgery on March 7, 2025. Should I consider DELAYING pedicled TRAM flap surgery if it means I can have a DIEP flap instead? Here's the thing: everything is TOTALLY LINED UP for my current schedule TRAM flap for 3/7/25. But if we try for a…
I was just diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Two masses in my left breast. One being less than a centimeter from my left nipple. I can accept that I will need a mastectomy in my left breast, but I'm having a hard time accepting that I will lose the nipple. Does anyone have experience with reconstruction of their…
I have read a lot on this wonderful site about reconstruction and lumpectomy vs mastectomy. Wondering what experience others have had with reconstruction after lumpectomy. My situation is that the lump is bulging right next to nipple in areola. Lumpectomy would take less than 1/4 of breast off the top, scar would be…
Today I went in for my final 6-month visit. They offered to order an MRI to check on the integrity of the implants, even though there are no signs of trouble with them. Is it normal to get an MRI on my implants just because they are five years old?
Has anyone had implants replaced? I would appreciate sharing about the experience.
Hello. I’m 55 and on January 31st of this year I was diagnosed with Grade 1/Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. I had a bilateral mastectomy on March 12th with expanders put in. Thankfully, my lymph nodes were clear and my ONCO test came back at a low risk for recurrence so I don’t have to do chemo or radiation. I had to…
Hello community~ I had a bilateral mastectomy in October 2024 and am preparing for the second phase surgery, removal of the awful tissue expanders and placement of the final implants. The plastic surgeon usually recommends fat grafting, and did initially until we discussed how painful and difficult the mastectomy was for…
Hi all. I had bilateral mastectomies in 2008 after a diagnosis of bilateral BC. I had implant reconstruction with a successful outcome. However, in the past couple of months, I have noticed capsular contraction on one side. Since my surgery, we have moved to Maine and I need to find a plastic surgeon who is an expert in…
