My insurance company wants me to switch aromatase inhibitors! Why!
I've been on exemestane for almost 4 years, tolerating it remarkably well. Just got a letter from my insurance company. Starting in January, exemestane is "non-preferred" and will cost me more. The insurance company suggests I "switch to anastrozole." I'm angry! I don't want to switch medications, given that the one I'm on…

Thanks, Tamoxifen? - and an anticlimactic milestone
3 years ago I had my first bone density test. The results came back showing mild osteopenia. Yesterday I had my second scan, and the results came back this morning with about 5% improvement, putting me in normal range. I had no idea bone density could improve! Naturally, my hypervigilant anxious brain immediately told me I…

Scared thick uterus lining
Hi everyone! Went in today for a vaginal US which shows very thick uterine lining. No polyps or fibroids. My last two periods have been very heavy and painful and last longer than usual. The Dr said this could be caused by the tamoxifen but that I need a biopsy. I'm obviously scared, and sad. Just hearing the word biopsy,…

Considering quitting Tam after two years
Does anyone have a general idea of how much protection you get from completing two years, premenopausal? I've seen numbers that say you're better protected years down the line by completing 5-7 years, but I have Stage 4 of another kind of cancer, and will be very lucky to get six more years. I know it's a gamble because…

Side Effects and Options
Please give opinions. I had a lumpectomy in March 2023, had radiation treatments and began taking Anastrozole May 2nd. Within the last 2 months my right ring finger has been locking and my right index finger gets sore if I bend it. Told the oncologist and the response was 2 options: 1) discontinue meds for 3 weeks and if…

Hi, After 1.5 years on tamoxifen, I became menopausal and the tamoxifen was changed to anastrozole. After 3 days of treatment, I am experiencing intense mood swings. Menstrual Cycle while on Anastrozole and Zoldex 1 Year
I've been on daily anastrolzole and monthly injections of Zoladex for one year and I just started a period. I'm almost 45 so I wasn't menopausal prior to starting treatment. I'm a little anxious as you can imagine, since the drugs should have me in induced menopause. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Tamoxifen after 5 years?
Hi :) I am 54 years old and was on Arimidex for 1.5 years (side effects were too much for me) and Tamoxifen for 3.5 years. I was not menopausal when I started, but I am now. I assumed after five years that I would be done, but my oncologist has now said I should stay on for at least two more years. I'm seriously…

Brain Fog and Cognitive Effects
I didn't see a recent thread for this so I thought I would create one. When I first started hormone therapy I was placed on Tamoxifen. I started it just a few months after chemotherapy, and between the two I experienced pretty thick brain fog in some respects. I'm on Lupron and Anastrozole now and my mind is significantly…

No sleep for three days on brand name Arimidex
Hello, back again for your sage advice and shared experiences. I started brand name Arimidex a week ago. If I took in the AM, I'd feel catatonic all day, completely dissasociated from my brain and exhausted. So I started taking at night but was utterly wired all night long. No sleep. Not even with prescription sleep meds.…

Completed 10 years anti-hormonal: now doc rx evista????
Dear all, I just finished a decade of tamoxifen/arimidex and finally exemestane. Beginning 5th Year on Tamoxifen
Hi All, I'm 2 1/2 months into my 5th year on Tamoxifen and my patience is wearing thin for dealing with the side effects. The worst one is stomach upset/pain. Any POSITIVE stories about AIs or Tamoxifen?
