PET Scan
Hi I am wondering at what point will the oncologist order a PET scan. Is it mostly for patients with a high risk or symptoms of other issues? Or can I request one just to be sure that I am "all good"? Just anxious to see if I have or not have any other thing going on. I have a diagnostic mammogram and MRI coming up in…

Will 30% of Early Stage (1-IIIA) go on to metastasize??
So I started this question in another thread but was hoping for additional feedback. With MBC awareness day last weekend, a stat is going around that caught my attention. Basically says that 30% of early stage BC patients will eventually have their bc metastasize AFTER adjuvant treatment. Susan G. Komen even states it here…

My recurrences have all been locally advanced, the latest grade 2, initially inoperative, though eventually after shrinking with Palbocyclib it was removed lat September, but path showed perineural invasion and prob lymphovascular invasion. PET Scan results are on portal - have not heard from doctor
After being diagnosed with a new breast cancer (my third in the same breast but apparently not a recurrence based on pathology), I had a PET scan prior to my scheduled SMX. The results were in my portal a few hours after the test yesterday morning but now, a day and a half later, no one has called to discuss the results.…

Is this Lung mets? Petrified with every day...
that goes by with this cough. So I'd like to start this with the fact that most of my adult life (now 63) when I get a cough, it hangs on for weeks, Most of the time we are talking 4-5 weeks. I started having a very very slight cough, I want to say last winter. It was so slight, I would cough once or twice in the morning,…

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy next week
It's been almost 7 years since my first discovery of BC (left side). I recently went in for my 14 th mammogram since then and calcification has been popping up on the right one for the last few 3D mammos. It went from 2 or 3 to about 20 tiny dots on the 03/2024 imaging. The report indication said: indeterminate cluster of…

Stressing out about Elevated ALT levels (things other than liver mets?)
Wow, I have been gone from this site for so long I had a hard time figuring out where things were! This place was a godsend, and every time I start to worry about something, the ladies here have always helped, and I tried to do the same. History - I was diagnosed with Stage IIB back in 2009, had bmx, ACT chemo, radiation,…

Talk me off the ledge
I'm just about 1 year out from my Stage 1 diagnosis. Had a double mastectomy last July with reconstruction. Tissue expanders were exchanged for implants in November. Had to have a bit of fat grafting/scar revision this past April. Just after this last surgery, I felt a small lump just above my implant. At the time, I…

Recurrence symptoms: swelling and heaviness?
Hi all, Has anyone experienced mild swelling or a feeling of heaviness in the breast as a symptom of local recurrence? No pain, redness or itching, but something just feels “off”. Laying on my back feels like something kind of heavy it sitting on my treated breast. Already have yearly mammo and US next week and will…

My whole body feels scared - possible findings, biopsy and axillary aspiration
I was nervous just coming up on five years, and then my sonogram was inconclusive which caused days of fear, and then the second reading found a mass just by my nipple (on the good side) and enlarged lymph nodes (on my surgery side). Now I need a biopsy and an axillary aspiration and the soonest appointment is next Monday.…

Mammogram recall
I have been getting mammograms every 6 months for about 5 years now and every other time they use contrast enhanced dye. In all that time, I was never recalled for further diagnostic imaging… until now. I’m a bit stressed to say the least. How often have you guys been recalled? Has the outcome always been good? Did it end…

Stage 1A, released from treatment and concerned
Hi, I was diagnosed early 2020 with Stage 1A IDC with ITC’s in one node, HR+ IDC. I had a DMX, and 3 years of zoladex and letrozole. I was having really bad bone pain and tried different AI’s. They were worse. My MO felt it was ok to try tamoxifen. That was unbearable for me. I was happy to go back to the AI but my dr…

Rise in Tumor Marker
I’m about 1.5 years out of treatment with left IDC stage 1a triple positive. Had a routine blood panel run and my CA 27.29, which had never been high, was 159. A bilateral diagnostic mammo a few weeks ago was BIRADS 2 with a lingering, but shrinking seroma. They’d finally moved me back to annual screening mammos and six…

CA 27.29 elevated
I finished chemo for Stage 2 ER+ Her2- about 7 months ago, then 20 rounds of radiation, and been on anastrozole and Verzenio since then. CA 27.29 was 21 about a month after chemo but was tested this week (6 months later) and has risen to just out of normal range at 41. I know these tests are not reliable on their own but…

All the things that weren't breast cancer
I thought I would post for those people who are searching for stories similar to their own symptoms. It's terrifying having those things pop up on scans that might be cancer, your head goes to all the worst places. Anyway, here's me. I was diagnosed triple pos stage 2-3 BC in Dec 2020, one node was positive on scans and…

Jumping out of my skin/Drowning
I apologize in advance for being crazy. However, I am looking for some hope/positive thoughts... I was diagnosed in 2013. Last week I went in for my annual mammogram. I get a Contrast Enhanced Mammogram. They found an enhanced mass in the vicinity of where my original cancer was. An ultrasound showed a correlated oval…

Skin Mets?
I have a red mark on my port scar for at least two weeks. It has not healed with corticosteroid for the past few days. The doctor does not think it is Mets. I’m planning to continue the corticosteroid before I go back to the doctor. It looks like the attached picture. Any chance it could be anything but Mets? (Edited by…

PET scan
I'm six years out from double mastectomy for IDC and recently had an ultrasound for a pain on the cancer side which turned out to be benign, actually they couldn't find anything and think its muscular. Now it still hurts and went back to the dr. and he wants me to have a PET scan. I am terrified! Should i have just…

Needle biopsy today for mama
Update and catch up from this thread Unsurprising, but I didn't get a ton of great sleep last night. This morning is my Mom's CT guided needle biopsy on the lung. I find myself nervous, although it's a supposedly routine procedure. My Mom is in her 70s, so…even the most routine of procedures could incur complications. But,…

Possible Chest Wall Recurrence - Help
I am almost 12 years since my diagnosis. I had mastectomy, chemo, radiation, and Zoladex and Tamoxifen. I just found 3 tiny hard bumps below my scar. I don't know when they appeared but can't be that long ago. From what I read, this is most possibly a recurrence. I have made an appointment for Friday. My only hope is that…

Possible Recurrence - Can I do it alone... again?
Stage 1 triple negative in 2012. Treated with surgery, chemo and radiation. I really thought I was out of the woods. I had absolutely no concerns until I found a couple of hard lymph nodes just above the same breast a couple of days ago. I sent an email to my old oncologist to see if it was anything I should be concerned…

Suspicious tumor
I have been getting a contrast enhancement mammogram (CEM) every year since my diagnosis in 2013. I had one today and the radiologist saw a suspicious tumor so she did an ultrasound. Then told me I need to get a biopsy. When I asked if the cancer is back, she just kept repeating the tumor is suspicious and I need to go for…

Mom going in for chest CT today
I am sadly back here again after a few years away. My mom previously was diagnosed with breast cancer. They did radiation treatment, and then it was discovered to have spread to a nearby lymph node; she underwent surgery to remove it. Several months later, she was declared cancer-free. Over the last few years, she has had…

Endoscopy today
Aside from the delay (1 hour late, stewing in my anxiety), the procedure went well. I was shocked they took 4 biopsies. I'm going to the ugly place. First concern is mets from lobular to throat or stomach…or would it be worse if it were a new primary gastric cancer. UGH.
