I thought survival rates were better. Negative thinking.
So, having a scare about recurrence I am doing all kinds of research and basically rotting my brain and increasing my worry. I have to say the mainstream media portrayal of breast cancer is that most people can live a long time now after it but then I see the rates of survival for some cancers and they act as though 5 year…

Faslodex Girls Thread 2014
Tips for taking Faslodex without pain: ABSOLUTE MUSTS: * Warm up the syringes. At least room temperature. Armpits work well, as does belly skin. * Take the weight off the leg on the side of the shot. Relax that cheek/leg as much as possible. * Inject SLOWLY! It should take at least 30 seconds to empty each syringe. General…

Rejecting hormone therapy
I had a lumpectomy last month with clean margins, no lymph involvement and an Oncotype of 17. I start radiation next week and it has been suggested by my MO that I start a 5 yr course of Tamoxifen upon completion of my 21 radiation treatments. The Tamoxifen side effects I've read about seem real quality of life destroying,…

Scared and Worried
I have just been diagnosed with an Invasive Ductal Carcinoma which resulted in also being a Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I will be seeing my oncologist for the first time on Monday. Not sure what to expect, the information out there seems to be a little scary. Any thoughts with the same problem as me. Thanks.

Severe health anxiety
Ok had the worst night of sleep since this nightmare began at my 6 mo diagnostic mammo a few weeks ago. My background is that I suffer from intense health anxiety and have a long history of panic attacks. I do not medicate because I have an intense fear of medications. (was once given pain meds after a c section and had…

Having swellings on fingers and arm 8 hours after surgery. Is it common?
Hi, I had a unilateral mastectomy today. Surgery was completed about 8 hours ago. I just noticed that my arm and fingers on the side where I had a surgery are slightly swollen. Before surgery I had read the symptoms of lymphedema. In my case, surgeon took 3 lymph nodes away. I’m at risk of developing lymphedema. I know I…

Waiting again - the unknowns are bliss and welcome this time.
I visited the Orthopedist due to hip and knee pain (walking with a limp). It came about suddenly after standing up from a sitting position and didn't go away. It is on one side of my body, and I have numbness in my leg and foot. I let it ride out, thinking it must be from my AI. After a short time, I caved and went to the…

Hair loss 3.5 years later
so I finished chemo 3.5 years ago, my hair grew back and was never as thick as it was pre chemo but that was actually a gift from chemo (it was waaay too thick before) I was very happy with my chemo curls and all of a sudden it began thinning several months ago. In talking with two individuals who went through chemo at the…

For Arimidex (Anastrozole) users, new, past, and ongoing
I found a couple of older threads about Arimidex, but they covered a large time span with a gazillion posts, so I thought I would start a new thread for Arimidex/Anastrozole users. I am starting on Anastrozole today. Plan is to take it for 5 years, possibly longer. I already have osteopenia and osteoarthritis (limited to…

Thread for Stage IV Oligometastatic Folks
Hi, Wanted to start a separate thread for stage 4 oligometastatic folks. I was diagnosed in January and my metastatic disease consists of lymph nodes -axillary, mammary, supraclavicular, and cervical (extending into my neck - that's the one that made me stage 4). After 3 months on Ibrance/Letrozole, many of the lymph nodes…

Long term survivor examples.
Just an idea came across my mind. Can we share stories and examples of long term triple negative survivors. They dont participate in such forums. So its only by word of mouth that we get to hear about them. But I also see few of them in this website, who themselves are long term survivors. I feel so happy to see how they…

Misdiagnosed as Fibroadenoma
My wife noticed a family large lump (4cm) on her left outer breast on 8th sept. We immediately consulted a general surgeon who said he was absolutely certain that it was a fibroadenoma. He sent us to get an ultrasound, and the radiologist saw two lesions 3cm and 1cm next to each other, and said they're definitely…

Recovery and Exercise Stamina Issues
Wow, I still am having a hard time maneuvering around the forums since the .org blew them up. I have no idea if I'm posting in the right place, but here goes.. I'm seventeen months past my treatment plan, and doing pretty well. But I don't seem to be able to build up exercise stamina. As in, I'm now doing a lot of…

Stage 1, grade 1 and pre-menopausal
hi sisters, It has struck me that most grade 1, stage 1 sisters seem to be post-menopausal (aka low estrogen) and younger women seem to be more often stage 2/grade 2. I am 42, recently diagnosed ER positive, still full of estrogen and becoming a little paranoid that there is something different about me or my cancer! I am…

Elacestrant (ORSERDU)
Starting this topic to share info about the new medication elacestrant. Elacestrant (ORSERDU) was recently FDA approved for ER+/HER2- MBC for patients with the ESR1 mutation. Just before it was FDA approved, I was able to obtain the drug through an expanded access program (thanks to WeninWI for the info!). The expanded…

Swollen armpit, collarbone lymph node & neck lymph node
Well I didn't think I would have to back here after my diagnosis in 2018 but here i am.... About a week ago I had pain in my armpit (cancer side) then I noticed swelling, major swelling, like a golf ball in my armpit and into my chest (mastectomy side). I originally thought lymphedema as I had over done it a few weeks back…

Hylecta
Is anyone receiving Hylecta only? I was dx October 2011 with MBC. Was on Herceptin and Perjeta until August 2015. Then Herceptin only until 2019 when we switched to Hylecta. Hylecta was easy breezy. Until 2022 when we found some pesky small lung mets. Wondering if Hylecta was not a wise choice for someone with MBC. Thank…

Scalp pain from Arimidex?
Are there any others who have scalp pain after starting Arimidex? I've been on this stuff since late Feb (8 months) and have scalp pain on the top of my head since then. It is NOT constant, but there most times. Just feels like before my hair fell out and hurts. Like someone is pulling my hair backwards, or against the…

Concerned about conflicting advice -
Hi everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I was really happy to receive a BIRADS 2 diagnosis for microcalcifications that my doctor was keeping an eye on. My radiologist told me I was all set and to come back when I’m 40 (I was 36). I’m now 37 and pregnant with my first. Going over my records, I see dr…
