Where's my info??
Hi there, It's been some time since I've participated in this forum and the look has changed. I had posted a lot of information about my cancer, treatment, etc. in what I'm assuming was my profile page. I've come back to review it as another family member may have breast cancer. But I can no longer find my information. Has…

Newly Diagnosed
hello, I am new to this but know how important support groups are! My name is Sandi, my beautiful daughter Chris was just diagnosed with Triple Positive Breast cancer. She has been caring for her husband of 37 years who was diagnosed with GBM inoperable brain cancer for 3 years. He now needs her for everything as their…

Calcifications in a milk duct
I just turned 40 on the 8th of June so I'm fairly new to the whole mammogram scene and the issues that can be found from those. About 4 years ago (age of 35), I did have some nipple discharge from one nipple that would only come out if I messed with it or forced it to come out. Well, I ended up freaking myself out over it…

Confused about my test results
Hi, I had a routine mammogram the radiologist said the concern was BIRAD 5. Then I had a biopsy. The radiologist said it was cancer. He went on to say he would not believe my results if they came back benign. Which is a pretty confident answer. What do I do with that comment? I went home believing I had cancer. The biopsy…

Starting chemo August 2014
Thought I would start a thread for August. Initially I joined the July 2014 Thread but my Chemo was moved out due to slow ALND recovery. I suggest until we get good and started that you drop by and review that thread. The ladies are wonderful and very active and supportive. They are a month ahead of us and sharing a lot of…

Has anyone here declined aromatase inhibitors?
I am 70 and recently had a lumpectomy for stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma, 7mm. No lymph nodes involved. My oncologist prescribed anastrozole but I refuse to take it. I've done my homework and it's a quality of life issue for me. I already have mild arthritis, osteoporosis and thinning hair. I don't need more of that and…

Progression question
I have severe scanxiety right now…had scans yesterday (nuclear bone and CT). Previous insurance wouldn't pay for a PET, but since I have changed insurances recently I am going to pursue that again for the next scan. I'm told by my MO that I will have to have scans every three months. My fear, of course, is that these scans…

Nurse Navigator
I am meeting with a different radiologist to go over my biopsy results. The appointment is listed under "Nurse Navigator" in My Chart. This doesn't sound good, right? What questions do I need to ask? Already crying. Worried.

Worried
I am 85. Diagnosed in April with IDC, right breast, grade 3, stage 1A, 1.8 cm. Surgeon removed tumor and cancerous intramammary lymph node close to tumor. No lymph nodes removed underarm. Seeing medical oncologist this week to discuss treatment plan. Hoping I don’t have to do chemo!

Hi, Chemo 5 today for Stage 2, full of emotions today
Hi, I’m Kristine, I was diagnosed in March 2024, and my journal has been full of mixed emotions. I’ve learned a lot from my chemo experiences and tests, as well as how relationships change with siblings on being receptive and supportive. I am trying to find different things to eat, but I’m seeing that there are a lot of…

Tamoxifen and Ovary Pain
Hi all, I am 52 next month, premenopausal, and on Tamoxifen. I have been on it for about 2 months. For the last 2 weeks, I've had off-and-on ovarian pain. Last week, it coincided with my cycle. Yesterday it started up again. It's. Sharp pain in left ovary. I used to get cysts a lot. I think this is also a cyst and may be…

Breast MRI Results
My doctor recommended that I start receiving Breast MRI exams due to my lifetime risk %, as my mother had a breast cancer diagnosis at 49 years old. She is still a survivor 18 years later. I just turned 43 years old, and consider myself relatively healthy. I had an abnormal mammogram two years ago, and after a sonogram,…

Need to hear from any long term grade 3 survivors
I am doing quite well and have gotten through all active treatment. The last step is my 3-D nipple tattoos. Anyway I am struggling a little right now. It's not bad but I could use encouragement. My original diagnosis was a grade 3, hormone positive tumor. No lymph node involvement and no LVI but that grade 3 haunts me…

Brand New - like FRESH

So now i am in the ‘system’ and have been booked for a Bone Scan, ECG, Oncologist and Surgeon this week. (4 different appts) I’m in Canada…

When you don't fit the studies and your doctors disagree
Hi all. I'm recently diagnosed (March) with regional recurrence in right axillary nodes, 17 years after double mastectomy/chemo/tamoxifen for IDC right side (with negative sentinel node biopsy). Surgery in April removed 4 positive nodes and 4 negative nodes. Cancer is again ER+, PR+, HER2 negative (but this time HER2 low).…

How could I ever have foreseen...that I'd be here at year eighteen?!
Checking in on my survivor sisters with my traditional cancerversary post. I remember how much it used to help me when I saw posts from Stage III-ers who were WAY out from diagnosis (and there weren't as many back then), Here's wishing you HOPE, which is one of the most important things we have in our toolbox! Hugs to all…

Zometa - What was your experience?
My last bone scan showed mid-level osteopenia, and my doc recommended Zometa. I was lucky enough that my cancer seems to have been caught by my mastectomy - no chemo or rads. I'm on anastrozole just to be safe. Most of the other Zometa threads seem to be for very complex cases where the posters are juggling many conditions…

Tamoxifen: start or no?
Hi After meeting with my MO yesterday and we agree to stop Lupron as the emotional side effects are just not doing well with me. I am premenopausal, age 47, and Oncology score is 22. My risk of distance occurrence in 9 years was 13%, with tamoxifen it would reduce to 8% and if using ovarian suppression or chemo, it would…

diagnosed with DCIS - advice welcome
Hi Everyone, First time posting here. Great forum with lots of information and support, and I’m hoping to garner some after finding out today via a pathology report that I have DCIS. I had a lumpectomy back in 2016 for a papilloma that turned out to be benign, and just this past month, experienced an excruciatingly sharp,…

Breast Reconstruction
Hello, I just had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. It’s been 48 hours since my surgery and I feel that both of my breasts are becoming warm to the touch closer to the armpit area. Is it normal? I don’t have fever and generally feel well recovering from the surgery. There is a lot of swelling and…

Maybe a dumb flat question?
I had surgery Monday. Modified radical on the left and simple on the right. This may be a silly question but will my chest become more flat instead of concave? I am having a very hard time processing what I see under the bandages right now and try not to look because I just cry when I do. Will it look any better? The…

Comfort dogs
Okay, I am just throwing this out there: does anyone else feel closer to their dog than to humans through this roller coaster journey? I have a wonderful life and great support, but my little blind shelter dog Lewie (a white poodle mix) has been constantly by my side- whether I am sleeping on the couch after chemo or in…

Deciding on your implant location; Subpectoral or prepectoral
Good Afternoon Group. I met with both my BS and PS this week and was not aware of some decisions I need to make. Specifically under or over the muscle. I was naive and thought it was just a done deal to go under the muscle/Sub-pectoral. Turns out this was not the case. Both surgeons made arguments for and against both…

Pain and tightness around implant after radiation
I’m 13 months post final radiation and have extreme tightness around my implant. There isn’t a time when I don’t have an uncomfortable feeling or down right pain. Now the back story and questions. Original Dx 6/2016. Dbl mastectomy, SLN Bx, under muscle reconstruction with textured implants. Woke up feeling as if I was…

Biopsy Results
Greetings - just diagnosed today - more testing to come. I had 2 areas biopsied via stereotactic biopsy (right breast). Area of architectural distortion came back benign - with stroll fibrosis, columnar cell change, usual ductal hyperplasia and focal features suggestive of a radial scar. Calcifications came back -…
