Familial history of BC and risk
I had stage 1 idc at 47 successfully treated, and a cousin had dcis. I’m concerned about my adult daughter’s risk, especially since she has dense breasts. She will get her first mammogram this year, but does an MRI every other year help detect problems sooner? Are oral contraceptives risky, or only after a diagnosis?

wireless indentification tag?
Hi, facing another lumpectomy for dcis, and the surgeon explained they don't do wires anymore, that they use a wireless Identification tag which helps maintain breast tissue by targeting the precise area of cancer during surgery. (Not sure I'm saying this right…. ) Anyway, I'm told it's placed before surgery with…

Armra Colostrum
So ~ I had a double mastectomy in 2016 , my cancer was estrogen driven, but was caught early…I am an otherwise healthy almost 74 year old (I feel like 50, most days 🙊) However, now I have a concern ~ my grandaughter had told me about “Armra,” which is a colostrum powder. She takes it to ward off viruses; so, of course, I…

Any Long term two time breast cancer survivors out there?
Hello I was diagnosed with breast cancer (Triple positive) in 2017, went through the whole gamut of treatment - masectomy, taxol / Herceptin and 5 years of tamoxifen. It was classified last stage 1 early stage. Two years after I stopped tamoxifen, I got diagnosed with breast cancer again. This time it's ER/PR positive but…

Bone Pain from Mets or AI?
I am recovering from my third breast cancer dx and have been getting numbness and pain in my ribs, legs and hips. It gets worse at night when I lay down. During the day it doesn't bother me too much or stop me from going about my normal daily activities. I just had my normal bloodwork which was ordered by my cardiologist.…

Cancer Update
Its been a while. I really had to take a step back from engaging the community because the stories are so gut wrenching and sad. Nadia is doing great physically. We had a second scan in Feb. Liver Mets appear to be healing and the breast tumor is definitely smaller. They did confirm that this cancer had spread to her spine…

DCIS Grade 2. Anyone told to skip hormone blockers?
I was diagnosed with a wide span of DCIS, Grade 2. I had a lumpectomy and reconstruction on my right breast and a reduction on my left, clear margins, no invasive detected. My oncologist recommends I do radiation but no hormone therapy. He feels it is not needed and will not change my long-term outcome. I am wondering if…

Herceptin Side Effects
As a 22+ year survivor of Stage 4 MBC de novo, I have been on Herceptin for about 21 years. I have not had any problems until about a year ago. During the infusion, I have chills and shaking. Sometimes it helps to request a warm blanket, hot cocoa and turning on the seat heaters. As soon as I leave the chemo center and if…

To rephrase Prince: tonight I'm gonna party like it's 19 years survived!
OK, what I'm really going to do tonight is visit my BC support group meeting - but that's still a monumental occasion because the pandemic has intensified so many of my phobias. HOWEVER: I'm blessed to be able to work virtually at the job I've had for 47 years. I'm grateful to have reached 40 years of marriage last year.…

"Roll Call" for those who've stopped Hormonal Therapy early - short post to share status?
If you quit or reduced hormone therapy and don't mind sharing future status at least once a year, could you share concisely current cancer status (no evidence of disease, metastisis, new breast cancer) or other health facts? This will give an easy to follow thread of results of quitting. It is such a gut wrenching decision…

The long wait for tests is emotionally exhausting
This will be my fourth post about what is becoming a never ending nightmare waiting game for a tests and diagnosis.
