I am Having a hysterectomy and oophorectomy next week via robot but my fibroids have made it too big to come out my vagina. I have to do this because the Lupron was not working to suppress my ovaries. (I think they are just bitter I've never used them) What kinds of healing expectations should I have? I'm a little unclear…

How has a nurse helped you through breast cancer?
At Breastcancer.org, we often hear how much nurses mean to people going through breast cancer. It’s the nurse who often explains the diagnosis and treatments to you in simple language, helps manage your side effects, offers you reassurance, and connects you with the care you need. Nurses are also a source of emotional…

Seriously? First IDC, then DCIS, now possible DCIS again.
Has anyone had multiple new DCIS primaries rather than recurrences? I had IDC in my left breast (treated with lumpectomy and radiation ) in 2011, DCIS in left breast (treated with left-side mastectomy) in 2021, and today my radiologist found new calcifications in my right breast. I'm having a biopsy on Wednesday. She…

Kisqali/ribociclib, Faslodex/fluvestrant & Xgeva combo - Anyone?
I've been on this combo since Nov 2019. Since all treatment combos seem to offer their own side effects and challenges, I'd like to hear from others taking these drugs. Especially your experiences, duration of success and how you deal with the fatigue, itchiness, etc that goes along with this treatment.

13 Years Since Breast Cancer Diagnosed in 2012 - Where are you now?
It's been 13 years since I joined the Breast Cancer Boards in 2012 when I was blindsided by a Stage II diagnosis on August 31, 2012. I felt alone and hopeless until I found the support and wisdom of the community members here. It's a journey that has had many ups and downs and curves in the road but the people I've met…

Looking to connect with others for support and guidance
Looking to connect with others who have had a second primary breast cancer. First diagnosis was in 2016, found on a routine mammogram. I was 43 at that time Stage 1A no nodal involvement, oncotype 7 had lumpectomy, radiation and 5 years of Tamoxifen. I had a young family at the time and kept it from my youngest as he was…

Going in for Mammogram soon!
I am so anxiety filled. I am very high risk and haven't had a mammogram for 10 years so I'm 100% sure they are going to find something. I am terrified of the outcome. It consumes most of my time if I'm not keeping myself busy. I am working with a therapist and that seems to be helping a little. I guess no matter what the…

15 years free of disease; still terrified of mammogram!
In 2010 I was dx’d with stage 1 early breast cancer, no nodes. Treated with lumpectomy clear margins, radiation and AI. Since then, God has blessed me with 15 years of no recurrence. 🙏🏻 Despite 15 years, I know there is still a risk and every year I’m terrified! Tomorrow morning is my mammogram. Sometime after year 5, I…

Got pathology results but waiting to speak with Dr -- insight on options?
Hi all, long post to give context but the TLDR is — what to do about a large lump with high-risk/atypical findings (but not necessarily malignant) and positive-margins in one breast five years after early stage cancer in the other breast? Five years ago, I had a lumpectomy and radiation for stage 1 ER/PR-negative cancer in…

AC or CMF?
I am trying to decide between AC chemo (8 weeks) or CMF (6 months) Wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom? I am most worried about long term effects on the heart or nervous system. I had my 1st cancer 15 years ago on the other breast and had TC chemo which messed with the nerves in my legs, so I didn't want to do that…

Birads 4 on ultrasound. Mammo+repeat USound done today. Waiting for results.
It's unbelievable how terrible the waiting process is!!! I've tried distracting myself, it only works sometimes. My left breast ultrasound a few years ago showed a cluster of complex cysts at 12 o'clock (birads 3), which has been monitored every 6 months ever since. The most recent was done on Aug 12 which showed it seems…

Hi everyone! As a result of reading up on recovery after surgery, I have realized I'm going to be needing some front opening garments. Dont settle.....Go to where they are changing the standard of care, not where you are confined by it
Below is a letter my wife wrote to West Cancer Clinic in Memphis TN. For the past 8 months we have both spiraled in what felt like a hopeless system. We had our first visit to Vandy on the 14th of August and it was an eye opener: Are you considering having children again? We were told by West that this would never be an…
