Falling apart for every scare-- latest is a pea sized lump on my chest
6 years out from 2b/3a dx— treatment was masectomy with total axillary nodal dissection, chemo, rads and still on arimidex. I recently discovered a hard pea size lump a couple of inches under my collar bone about an inch from my arm pit. My oncology nurse practitioner couldn't find it during our visit and I couldn't find…

Histotripsy for Liver Mets. Experiences, Thoughts, Knowledge, Suggestions?
I am in the process of learning about histotripsy for possible liver mets treatment. My oncologist has told me something about the process, and I've read quite a bit also. It is not yet offered at all cancer centers (mine included), so it's sometimes necessary to go to a different clinic for the procedure. Has anybody here…

Radiation Induced Morphea of the Breast
hi everyone!!! last fall I was dx'd with radiation induced Morphea 8.5 years after my last treatment. I am currently seeing a radiation oncologist, who has only seen this twice in 20+ years. It is fairly rare and because it is, there are not any tried and true treatment options. I think this may be because a lot of us are…

Torso sensitivity
I posted about this 5 years ago, and never received a response from anyone who could relate. I hoped I'd "outgrow" this sensation, but that's not the case. So I'm circling back now, after discussing this at my annual check-up. Has anyone experienced hyper-sensitivity after a double mastectomy? Specifically, along the bra…

Question about prognosis for HER2-positive ER/PR-
Hello, I am a close relative of a young woman who was recently operated on for HER2-positive, ER/PR-negative pleomorphic lobular breast cancer, with a Ki67 of 12%. The tumor was large, 93 mm, and 6 out of 11 axillary lymph nodes showed metastases. Blood-based testing has also indicated evidence of spread. The tumor was…

So scared- expansile mixed lytic sclerotic density Found on ct scan
I went into the er for kidney pain, and we did find a stone. But in that scan they found “2 areas expansile mixed lytic sclerotic density in the right anterior 6th and 7th ribs. These are new from 2023. Suspicious for pathologic lesions.” And I’m scared. So scared. I got home from the er Thursday night and called oncology.…

Decision about lumpectomy or mastectomy
I was just diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and am a bit overwhelmed about the influx of information. For many years, my sisters and I have quipped that if one of us gets “it”, we will go get double mastectomies together. Our mother had it a few times, and she didn’t survive the last bout. When my husband met with…

Considerations: Lumpectomy w/Rads vs. UMX vs. BMX
Years ago I put together a list of considerations for someone who was making the surgical choice between a lumpectomy, mastectomy and bilateral mastectomy. Over time I continued to refine the list and add to it, thanks to great input from many others. Over the years I have posted this many times, and although I don't spend…

radiation-induced atypical vascular lesions (AVLs)
I've had radiation treatment twice for breast cancer in 2009 and 2019. In 2021, I developed four atypical vascular lesions on my mastectomy scar. They are a rare complication of radiation treatment and had to be removed. The surgeon removed them because in some cases these can lead to angiosarcoma, which is a death…

Didn't have a clean margin, go back in and re-excise?
I had surgery 2 weeks ago (lumpectomy); and just got to meet with my surgeon. One of my margins wasn't clear and she's recommending going back in and doing another surgery. I'm scheduled to start chemo next week, and then radiation. Isn't the whole point of doing chemo and radiation to kill anything that might still be…

Ten years later painful lump under implant
I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction ten years ago after having stage 1 ILC. I did NOT take the prescribed Tamoxifen. Now I have a hard knot/lump that also appears to be bruising under my right implant. It is sore and sometimes throbs or feels like it’s stinging when I am just sitting still. Anyone know what this…

Brain MRI findings: "mild chronic microvascular disease" Anyone else have this?
I just completed a Brain MRI: no tumors! Yay! However, I did have "mild periventricular and subcortical white matter areas of T2/FLAIR hyperintense signal consistent with chronic microvascular disease." This was not mentioned in my brain MRI a year ago. Apparently, chronic microvascular disease, also known as small vessel…

Parathyroid disease and breast cancer
I keep on seeing posts that people have had these dual diagnoses; sometimes the parathyroid disease pre-dated the bc and sometimes the other way round. What did your radiologist say when you were referred for a biopsy?
Hi there. I had my first two screening mammograms in 2018 and 2019. Life got in the way and I haven't had another one until just recently where they found calcifications (that were not there previously) in my left breast only. I went back for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. I knew something was weird when the tech…
